Trans Brake !!! How hard is it on tranny?

If built correctly... it should not be a problem with the trans. But, with times approaching the 10`s as you are, it is a good idea to upgrade axles.
Now, your tires may be a limitation on the harder launches.
One of my customers (shameless plug), John Plog, is approaching 300 passes this year with nearly all of these being transbrake launches. So, I personally do not think it is that much more abusive in a well thought out build.
I also believe your builder was making these brakes for a time, so it "should" be fine.
HTH...

Your saying a 2004r will last 300 transbrake launches?

Absolutely...
The car is, and has been a 10 second car since the install. And runs 10.4-10.5 now. This is all in 1 season.

Between myself, my pop, Fast Eddie Brewer and a bunch of us around KC we prolly have thousands of Stagerite launches on our trannys with 0 problems. The only thing I will suggest is the billet hard parts if you don't already have them....the T brake is hell on parts when you launch hard. My dad alone has hundreds of HIGH boost (10-20 psi) launches and has only broke the front drum 1 time...the one that broke was the original.

If you are worried about breaking parts, buy stronger parts.[/QUOTE]

OR DON`T BOTHER RACING....

Thats what im saying!

org question!!!
"My question is how much damage could I possibly do messing around with this t-brake"

Now I did not say hey guys im going to race my care an I am scared of braking something!!

The real use of the trans break is so you dont preload your suspension before launch. On the foot brake the car twists and turns.
If your rear suspesion is adjustable let say ladder bar or 4 link you can adjust for track conditions or tires and get the same reaction everytime. A trans break and 2 step is the only way to race.

Mine has been in the tranny for 8 years and never caused a bit or trouble and I have beat the piss outta it. The tranny has been rebuilt but just from normal wear and tear, not from the trans brake. Hope this helps.

You will potentially break more parts from the output shaft back. Driveshafts, u-joints, axles, carrier, and wheel studs (which better be at least 1/2 inch diameter and have a good set of through lugs on them). You also need a good suspension set up to prevent the body from squatting when shocked. Other damage could result from over revving if the above parts break.
