I just recently got a transmission and when it arrived the casing had been cracked in shipment. A local shop took all the guts out of the cracked casing and put it in another 200r4 casing. The other casing was not a BRF gn transmission. Now the transmission shifts between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm at all gears in part throttle driving, at wide open throttle it revs out to the limiter. He has checked the tv cable adjustment and it does't seem to make much difference, it only gets worse as you tighten. He says he checked the govenor spring but I asked him to ckeck again. Is there a problem changing casings and are all the 2004r casing the same. Everything ive read points the governor/spring. Please help. Thanks

All casings the same

While all casings are the same it is possible that the one you have has excessive wear, the upper end of the govenor rides in the case.

What are the pressure readings? That is where you should always begin in order to get help on this board.

Do you know for sure it was a BRF gov. and vb you had in the orig. one and that it is still in the new case? Like Clay said if you or they can take min. and max tv cable press. readings may help in diagnosing.

Thanks for help

Thanks to all the info available on this forum, we were able to get the transmission fixed. We just replaced the governor and the valve body from my old transmission for now and everything seems great. The other valve body had a B&M shift kit and it was not worth figuring out since I plan on getting the shift kit from Bruce anyway. I've read a lot of great things about it. Thanks a lot Mark (HOTTOGO), it was your answer to all the other posts on this forum that let us know it was the governor. I'll just get a rebuilt one from Bruce and I'm set to go, for now.
