The 2-3 shift comes on at around 2400 to 2900 RPM. Is that too high or am I going crazy (refrain from weak jokes)? When it does shift it's a perfect shift, no jerking or noise etc etc.

I recently had a backfire (caused plenum bolts to fly out and strip the threads) that couldn't have had any affect on transmission operation, could it?

Thanks for any help

Fluid looks and smells fine.

Is the perceived flare at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) with that RPM shift point??

I'll take her out on the road at lunch time and check with a few WOT blasts. I'll report back, thanks! I've been taking it easy in fear of something being wrong... what should I be looking for at WOT?

FWIW, I recently had a funky backfire that caused the plenum to come off. Could that or the RnR (removing TV cable) caused anything funky?

Id be concerned about that backfire. It could have bent the crank/rods if it had enough power to blow the plenum off.

Car drives great other than that, unless the symptoms in this thread can be crank/rods? I think the plenum came off due to using stock sized bolts with the power plate... it did prompt me to invest in a new ign module and coil pack.

Do a compression test minimum to see if the cylinders are close. Ive seen badly bent rods that left the pistons over an 1/8th inch in the hole at TDC! Usually associated with a nitrous engine. The 5 bolts holding the plenum on would be good if 3 threads engaged on each. It takes a lot of pressure to blow threads out like you did. Must have sounded like a grenade:eek: .

Did sound loud. Everything looks good, oil, coolant etc (if it's related)? Car drives great... I think it was the week of non driving and the stock (short) bolts on the power plate/plenum....
