my trans + box was fine. Drove the elky around for a few hours, nailed it a few times. Got home and parked it. my buddy had a issue with his car so I thought it might have been his maf, I popped off my trans+ and ls1 maf, and popped it in his. I did'nt hook up the ignition control part of the trans plus, but I was under the impression you could run it without. His car threw up an error 34, low signal from maf, or bad maf/unplugged. I thought it was just because I did'nt use the ignition portion of the box, but put it back on my elky, and it did'nt want to run or stay on at all. it threw me error code 42 bad ground etc. and the error 34. So I put on the pig tail the box comes with, and the error 42 went away. I dont have another ls1 maf right now to see if that goes away, but I suspect the maf on there is good, just the box took a crap. Has anyone else had this happen, one minute the trans+box is good, the next time you start it, takes a crap? pos, i'm going back to stock maf until I can afford a fast b2b or something. POS. I bought it used about 8 months ago, only have driven the car 3k miles if that, now its trash:mad:

Before you go bad mouthin the Trans + - i've had a MAF translator since it was designed.....ie MANY YEARS AGO - with Zero problems... maybe you ought to make a post asking Turbo Bob or Mike Licht - [which just happen to be two very good (and nice) BUICK guys and supporting vendors] about your woes i'm sure they will help you out. Sometimes everthing breaks.... good luck finding a good OE MAF:eek: WHEN THAT CRAPS OUT:eek:

I was asking for imput from many many others who have had the same problem, not a smart a$$ reply. I did'nt insult any vendors on my thread, so what you've had yours since it came out. I researched it, and found people having the same problem with it just under a year after it came out! Good for you yours is still working, mine is not. As far as finding a good maf, I plan on going with a fast set up eventually, and there are more alternitaves to a maf out there now, thats old school buddy. Thanks for your apprehensive reply, I used my freedom of speach, if you did'nt like it, maybe you ought to not read it next time. stop riding vendors dic# on this board. You got the same deal as the rest of us.

If you suspest the T+

You can send your translator and maf back to fullthrottle to be tested.

Zero issues with mine and also bought used and yes Mike will look at it if you want.

You'll get plenty of smartass reply's probably. Mine included, in the other thread.

If you're going to "cheap out" and buy used equipment of unknown quality and background, you have absolutely no ground to stand on bad mouthing the equipment and laying off the blame on it, instead of accepting responibilty for your own actions.
When buying used equipment you get it as is, you don't know the background or anything else about it, so stop whining and move on.
I thing everybody probably understands where you're coming from.
Continue buying used equipment, and crying when it breaks down, blaming the equipment for your actions. We got your marker.

It sounds to me like hooking the unit up to your buddy's car hurt the unit.

Otherwise, make sure all your connections are good, the MAF plug on the stock harness can have weak pins and get an intermittant connection.

You can try another LS1 MAF and see if it fixes the problem.

Otherwise, you can send it to Full Throttle for repair.

Hope this helps,

Bob

I was shooting my muzzleloader one time at a large whitetail buck and the cap failed to go off, so the gun didn't shoot and the deer ran away. When I got home that day I sold ALL my guns and quit hunting.

thanks BOB. I guess hooking it up in the other car did hurt it, but dont understand why? oh well. And so what if I was pissed off and wanted to rant on here, it wont be the first time or the last. I do appreciate the replies, weather good or ignorant, I do get ignorant too. The pos was working on minute broke the next, so what do you expect me to say? and if my car dont fire, I wont sell it:D and as far as cheaping out, I sell used stuff on here all the time, and garantee it works flawlessly, or will refund your money. So go figure. Many people buy used parts on here, its not being cheap, its being economical. Sorry not everybody buys "new".

there is always the MAFTPRO .. which is mafless

I run it and have installed it on 2 other TR's here and we love it...

If you are still considering going mafless

I was wondering about that. Does anything have to be installed with it? or can you just plug in the maft pro and go? I thought I read something where you needed all kinds of mumbo jumbo along with it? so can you just install the box, take off the maf and be done with it? might be reasonable until I get a fast set up. thanks.

You could run the pro by itself no problem. It would just be nicer to take advantage of the wideband tracking by instaling a lc-1 with it.

There is nothing wrong with buying used parts. Not everybody can afford to buy new so used is a perfectly acceptable alternative. I agree you should have confidence in the seller and the part but realize that it is used, ie: buyer beware. Even though it was a used part, it is still understandable to be upset that it broke, especially if there is no apparent reason. Heck, even if there is a reason, it's likely that most people will feel upset, say when we put that extra turn on the screw to make sure it's tight and end up breaking the part. Our fault but you get the picture.

So don't bash on people just because they buy used. After all, if we didn't buy used, how many of us would have our cars to start with?

MAYBE i'll look into that. Does sound good to go maf less, but for the price of the lm1 and the pro, your near the price of a new b2b fast. or you can get one used:D i'm going to stay away from used electronics if possible. Thanks for the help guys, and corsair231, thanks.

I used to have the first beta tested translator on my car it was version 1.0. that thing got wet so many times it was not funny. But it never hurt it at all. I later fixed the condensation problem with it by sealing it with silicone.

When i got my extender extremme chip i had to update the processer in the translator to the new verison 6.22 and it still works great.

I have recently upgraded to the B2B fast. but i still have all the stock stuff including the translator and ls1 maf. there put up incase of a failure.

I just want to take a minute and personal thanks Mike Licht and Bob Bailey for there continuing efforts for the buick parts and service. If it were not for u guys we would be still be beating to death a chip burner and countless amounts of fuel being burnt to tune it in using the old 255 grams a second and PE % tables.

Pro, 3 bar, Innovate LC1, Pro Chip = $789.96
Fast XFI kit = $1849.99 (from 3 vendor websites)

I do not see how this is "near the Price" even $1200 for a used BtoB Fast is quite a bit more.

FAST BtoB has now been discontinued, and only available used or if a vendor still has one in stock.

BTW Why don't you send us your Trans +,will will inspect it and fix it. We ususally do not charge for repairs unless you did something really silly to it.

Mike

When I had a Translator issue, I mailed it to turbobob and he checked it out. It was OK, but he went ahead and resoldered a modification I had made, and all was well. Very reasonable cost.

:)
