well about to have my trans rebuilt (again ) taking it to a different guy this time.. talked to him over the phone about my requirements and have a good feeling.. anyways wanting to put an aftermarket pan the trans this time.. what are my options? looks like the hughes pan the nick micale (arizona gn) sells is probably the best deal going... any opinions on this?

I got mine from PTS - a good high quality piece. When I had my trans rebuilt a number of years ago, the builder said he would not warranty the trans unless I got an aftermarket pan and a good trans cooler.

The Hughes pan is a good piece. The Art Carr is fine as well.
ANYTHING you can do to get the pickup deeper is good.

What failed to need another rebuild?

I do quite a few 200-4Rs in the TX/OK area and have a good track record on here. If you or your builder have any questions, give me a shout.

I picked up a PTS Xtreme shallow pan from Bruce last year...it is very nice. It also has upgraded rear pick-up and larger 700R4 filter.

Yeah that looks like the same filter as mine...for some reason I thought it was from the 700R4?

Most do use the 700R4 filter in the Deep Cast aluminum pans. Chris sells a Deep Stainless Pan w/rear pickup and a Filter & Sump Extension Kit for the 700R4 filter with stock pan also. Not sure what filter his Deep pan uses? Looks larger than the PTS filter.

Hughes is nice, I have one. It's a heavy cast aluminum piece, however. Keep that in mind. I Liked it because it's pretty sturdy for street use. The PTS is great, too, but I would be wary of running that on the street. Just my opinion. :)

Our pans...

Are an excellent addition to any trans. I know of several builders who will not warranty a trans in any performance application unless it has one on it going out. Ask Dale Cherry @ Injection Connection or Berrel auto repair. Ask him for his unbiased results of the testing he did.
PTS Xtreme pans are the originals and come complete as a kit. Ask anyone that has one.
