A big thank you to the TSA sponsors, Kirban Performance Products, Turbo Tweak, Extreme Automatics, GBodyParts.com and a turbobuick.com member. Not only did their generous donations allow for some great payouts but also allowed the class to continue to move forward.
TSA had an initial turnout of 4 cars. After the rain cleared out, test and tune started off Thursday with John Tubbs (black 87 Turbo T), Kip Asplund (black 87 Grand National), Dale Collins (white 87 Turbo T) and Missy Thompson (black 86 Grand National). Unfortunately after only two passes, Missy was out due to engine issues.
Friday qualifications showed the following times:
First Round:
John Tubbs 11.626 @ 117.50 with a weight of 3585
Dale Collins 11.887 @ 113.42 with a weight of 3650
Kip Asplund 12.006 @ 112.81 with a weight of 3655
Second Round:
John Tubbs 11.349 @ 119.16
Dale Collins 11.675 @ 115.44
Kip Asplund 13.500 @ ?
Saturday allowed one more qualifying pass before final racing started:
Kip Asplund 11.903 @113.70
Dale Collins 12.147 @ 114.69
John held onto the #1 qualifying position which gave him a buy run for the finals.
Race time put Kip Asplund and Dale Collins on the line together:
