TT chip noob question

I was reading another post here regarding octane, and there were several opinions to pull some timing via the TT chip. As I have no chip, and am trying to do this having never done it before, what steps are taken to alter settings on the chip? What resources are needed?

At the least you need a Scanmaster. Then you can use the gas petal on the car to cycle thru the numbers and adjust them.

not going to do anything without a TT (turbotweak) chip

if you goto turbotweak.com/forums you'll find all the info you need

5.6 chips adjust with the gas pedal and a scantool to veiw the changes , older 5.5 and later need a specific programing sequence involving the airtemp sensor and the a/c control

My set up is all stock save for new Comp springs. I'm learning as I go, hence the noob reference. Thanks for the info. I was thinking laptop tuning.

Well what chip do you have TT as stated is it for these cars now makes them run 1000 times better and ajustements are easy to do (thanks pacecar ta for helping me understand how easy) get one of his chips it is money well spent

There's other things I'll need to deal with before I need a chip. This is my first hybrid attempt, and things never work out like you plan. I'll be happy if I can swap it all in, dash included, and run it stock. Get that right first and then start upgrading. On the upside, the hybrid is another G body. On the downside, not enough time in the day plus the whole economy thing. But I do have plenty of ineptitude and a pile of some new parts I've been stashing away as I get the cash to do so, just not all I want yet (DP, exhaust, boxed arms, MAF and tube plus filter). None of those things came with the donor.

The chip is not for an upgrade most if not all will tell you a factory chip from 86 or 87 has too much timing in them for todays gas was great for the fuels used in the 80s but not now good luck on you project and post some pics so we can see the progress
