Set on TSM Boost

Started tuning a little this afternoon in hopes of hitting the track tomorrow night. I was shooting for 26psi boost. Up from my normal 22-23psi. I adjusted boost thru the RJC boost controller. I saw my first signs of knock ever. Before this street test I added boost, 10% fuel WOT thru the TT chip, and also keep in mind this is a dual nozzel alky kit. Fuel pressure is set and did rise with the boost(not sure on the fuel pressure since I was watching the scanmaster for knock.)

Any reason why you left it in overdrive? I would do another pull from a lower gear. A WB wouldn't hurt either. Tuning with millivolts can be challenging.

Haven't gone to a wideband yet. A big mistake for sure. And you are correct. Harder to tune. I was looking for a base line track run tomorrow night. I saw no sense in starting at 22-23psi. It was always a clean tune. As for the gear....well I just hit the petal from a cruise looking for any signs of knock. I had a gut feeling I would see some. Going to go make another pass.

Here's another run. Alky increased from setting 6 to setting 7. This run is in third gear. More knock. Fuel pressure did increase with boost.

With the car in park logger data shows park box not checked and has 3 gear and forth gear check marked. Isn't that backwards?

Rolling into the throttle huh... Smack it so the WOT changes in the chip can happen before it gets to full boost. I would also suggest the AEM or PLX wideband. You will be surprised at how much the timing change affects the A/F ratio. It happens fast and the narrow band 02 really doesnt show how drastic it is. I was seeing the same type of knock, just not as bad.

Check out the WB vs the regular 02 readings when the timing changes.Thats where the WB helps in tuning. check out my TPS too...

I really suprised with only a 3psi increase in boost and the added 10% fuel that the knock is there.

It has to be in WOT(above 4.2v i think) to get that 10% too. How much boost was the chip burned for?

TT chip is burned for 25psi. The 10% fueling should have been overall. With dual nozzels spraying alky I thought it would be tuned VERY rich?

Wideband....It will take some of the guesswork out. Eric sells a good one. You have everything else. Dont kill a Cometic man...please.

Wideband is the next step. Going to turn it back down. I was sneaking up on a tune but I got suprised. I'm pretty sure I'm blowing through the converter also.

The higherboost#2 file still showed 4th gear engaged. Are you certain your pulling in 3rd gear and not 4th?

The wot_rick file shows how useful WB is for tuning. There was a small moment where it leaned out and you got a little bit of KR.

Taking it a step further would be to use a TT6.0 chip that automatically adjusts fueling based on the wideband readings under WOT. You simply specify what A/F ratio you want and it takes care of the rest. Look how rock-steady my A/F ratio is:

In that pull I specified 11.1/1 for 1st and 2nd gear, and 10.8/1 for 3rd/4th gears. You can actually see the A/F's shift to slightly richer when I hit 3rd!
It's also nice for when the temperature drops in the evenings and boost is higher. I don't have to add fuel because the chip automatically does this to maintain the specified A/F ratio. I have run as high as 22# of boost with no knock (straight 93 octane).

Yep 3rd gear. Power logger showed me I was in 4th gear sitting in the driveway in park also. I hasn't ever done that till yesterday. I had always had a super rich car until I changed to the vaccuum set up from Cotton's. I think I had leaks in mulpitle locations.

If you're in 3rd, spinning almost 6k RPM's and only travelling 60 to 70 MPH, you have over 100% torque converter slippage! I'd be more worried about your tranny and converter at this point.

You are correct. Talked to Dusty Monday and we are going to a 9.5 PTC and taking the PTC 2800 out. It's for sale. Car has been "detuned". Should have been a good converter for the engine we thought. I have a ton horsepower in this car if we can find it.

And which wideband did you decide on...;)
X2 on the 6.0 chip I had when they first hit the market. Works great.

Still shopping for a wideband. I'm still looking at PL files to see why the knock started and why it isn't running really fat. May have an alky pump that is weak.

^ get razors pump tester and see where its at. how old is the pump?

Pump is three years old. Time for a rebuild I bet. 25psi boost. 10% fuel added through the chip and the dual nozzel alky set on 7. Should have be FAT!
