I had car mechanic friend who always blew the headgaskets on his T Type with NOS. He didn't have much to tune by and I'll guarantee he thought his tune on just the turbo was ok with the NOS as long as he added some fuel via the reg etc.

Anyways, I'd reconfigure your boost controller setup if you have it on the crossover. Consider having a short line from the turbo compressor to the boost controller which will be easy to alter etc, then run the wastegate hose from there all the way to the wastegate. Sounded like you have controller near the wastegate which is not needed as it needs to see pressure from the compressor first anyways so leave the MBC near the turbo.

It might be something easy when I switched Turbo's.Something not connecting right to my Racegate or I got the lines mixed up.Luckily even though my inside Boost control knob doesn't work right now it still has Boost at 18lbs.

Thats how my cars are tuned...

But I know my 02 and SM are matched to a wideband as well...

Do a search in the alky forum for "grumpy". His daughter is running a 67 turbo and supporting mods. On alky and 93 octane she ran a high 9 second 1/4 mile at the track, changed to street tires, didn't change anything else and then drove 2 hours to their cabin for a relaxing weekend. Not too many 9 second cars that can do that and still knock down 24 mpg. Granted he has some magic voodoo tuning skills, but its possible.

your right you can't beat Alky ... Simple and a LOT cheaper than NOS !!! Ummm Melissa just runs on drag radials all the time including racing :p Although this year she is goin to try slicks  ok back to the thread.. Alky Control all the way!! One of the best "IF" not the best thing you can do to a Buick !

Do you know the Type of Stall converter Grumpy's daughter is using with that 67??? 9's are fast:eek:

I also run the 009/42.5 injector. It seems very often that when people are searching for the reason their car is running rich they are also running the 009/42.5 injector. I’ve tried Reds chip which ran rich. I tried a chip from jaysgn that was an adjustable thumbwheel style and it ran so rich you couldn’t start the car in the garage as your close would stink the rest of the day of gas. And that’s with the doors open. I’ve read on this site that the 009/42.5 are tough to program and like to run rich. However my TT chip is the BOMB! No more problems. Get it ordered and installed you will not be disappointed. I just upgraded to the alky chip today.

I took the line off today from the fuel pressure regulator and the reading was at 52 lbs:eek: .Maybe this was due from the car warming up but after a few minutes it still stayed around 50lbs.I turned it down to 43lbs.One thing though is that the Scanmaster is reading 37 to 41 on fuel pressure with the line off.Should I stick with the 43lbs on the regulator or go by the intermintent #'s of 37 to 41 on the Scanmaster:confused: Also with the line on its around 38lbs at idle.

fuel pressure on scanmaster??

I didn't know it showed that. Which setting on the scanmaster shows this?

TT chips

I also had reds 009 chip it ran real rich (stumble in take off), TT chip fixed that ! I'm going RAZORS alky and TT alky chip.

Scanmaster dont show fuel pressure,I think your reading air/fuel temps.

As stated the scan master does not measure fuel pressure. 43 line off and 38 line sounds good. Once you turn your fuel pressure down you may want to turn your boost down as well. Each car is different but 18lbs of boost is more than I could ever run on pump gas with out knock. Its possible you could now go a little lean.

I wonder if its the weather or maybe my 02 sensor is getting bad or is bad.Maybe that was the reason for the 52 lbs at idle.I have to worry about boost now.My dam boost gauge(the plastic tube) snapped off so I have to go out and find something that will hold it so I can read by Gauge. That line has broke on me 3 different times. I thought most guys were running 17-18 lbs of Boost on the street with 93 octane:confused:

Each car is different. You may be fine at 18lbs. I'm just saying watch it. 18lbs I would would be part of the head gasket club. But now with alky i can turn it up.

Im going to take it soon and just see how it rides with the 42 lbs but not go crazy on it especially with my boost gauge broken in 2 pieces.

I just had it out and I don't see a difference at all.I thought it would at least spool different.Spool was the same.Maybe the TT Chip is the next move. Also have an RJC valve to put on but don't know where it exactly goes.I don't have a stock style type of actuator.I have a Racegate down below.Im not sure if the RJC will help with the spooling though.

Maybe put the w/g up where it controls the boost, using flow from both banks ???

You mean go back to the stock style wastegate or THDP??? Some guys say leave the Racegate alone.I was told by Pat from Precision Turbo that no wonder my Turbo spools slow because the wastegate is so far from the Turbo.Other guys don't believe this to be true. The only reason for the Racegate was is when I had a 60-1 HI FI installed about 12 years ago.I think the company that put it in talked me in to that.I also had a Boost controller inside my car but since I don't go past 18lbs on the street I really didn't need the Racegate setup.Do I think that is the issue with the spooling:confused: Only 1or 2 guys said it hurts the spooling so I don't know who to believe.Maybe the RJC valve installed down there might help a little.I'll see by next week if it does.Still got the chip and converter to think about also.It runs great from a footbrake but just seems more softer then a stocker on the roll.

I may be wrong, but the wastegate location in my mind would only be e problem at its capacity....hunting or overboosting. It should be normally closed. Is there any exhaust leaking out of it at idle?? If the seat was bad, I could understand slow spool.

No it has always ran the same way but it is old. When it goes on a lift then I can see. There's never any spikes in boost or a decrease in boost.I got to have someone look at it.Maybe the Racegate is a good setup and once again the lag is from the chip or the converter. When I say lag Im not talking about footbraking it.Its mighty fine off that.:D

I even swapped a Garret.63 from the PTE.63.I know now that was the wrong thing to do:mad: .If anything the car felt and hit harder with the PTE .63 Housing.

I missed it but how are you reading your fuel pressure??

Do you have any pics of your wastegate setup, you might have the lines screwy.
