I have a warped something between the two... I think that it is the 15 yearold exhaust housing on the stock turbo.

I am going to try to "deck" it with a sharpening stone... if this doesn't help I need to know:

Who makes a Turbo to Downpipe gasket?

I checked ATR's & PTE's site and found nada.

TIA,

TTT

That is a Walker P/N for a stock exhaust donut. Not quite what I am looking for.

Is it safe to use Permatex Copper Sealant on that side of the turbo?!

I have about a .001" gap between the now "decked" turbo exhaust housing flange (used a sharpening stone), and the DP flange.

Is there a gasket for this connection?

Thanks.

Since the factory elbow was never equipped with a gasket, an alternative may be to call a Terry Houston or ATR vendor and get a aftermarket gasket used for a jersey style dp.

I talked to Jack Cotton... that 800 number is killer.

He suggested Permatex Red... it isn't recommended for exhaust gasket making. However, Permatex Copper is good to 700*F and is recommended for exhaust, turbos, etc.

I am going to try the Copper tonight... what is the worst that will happen? Blow out? Drop into my DP and clog the cat?

I am also looking for one of those asbestos exhaust gaskets (like the "Jersey" one mentioned above, thanks ;) ) does anyone have any leads?

I know, no gasket is supposed to be present but things aren't perfect here, and If I could find a thin copper gasket, I'd run it.

This is fun... no, it isn't. But I love the help. :)

Mr T,
When I used the permex red it blow it out. It lasted for a while but then blew it out. I have a copper gasket that I got from PTE.
Im in the process of putting it on now. I would use the sharping stone and then get ahold of PTE.

Good Luck.

ATR sells one of the exhaust housing to downpipe gaskets that you are talking about. I got one a while back but never used it. I tried but it was such a pain in the a## to get the DP bolts in I gave up.

NOTE: this was with their external 3" DP & a Precision .63 housing.
