I too have a mitsu 55" projection TV. Yes they have all kids of inputs but no HDMI. but you can get a cable that changes from HDMI to DVI and it has the same great signal.

Don't forget that DVI doesn't carry audio. :D

LCD's are too "cartoonish".
Plamas are great but "tend" to suffer from burn in.
Fortunately Panny's use a "pixel orbiter" to prevent that.
The movies you see at the theater are 1,000:1 contrast ratio.
So much for the *artificial* 100,000:1 contrast ratios.
The big trick is how good are the darker areas?
How much detail can you see in the shaded areas?
That's where plasmas shine.
If you want to buy a TV for your kids to play "Grand Theft Auto" on,day in and day out...then you know what to buy[LCD].
Stay away from the Sharps and their "banding" issues-no kidding.
Purple and green stripes on facial closeups.
UGH!
Even without that, the picture looked like it was shining on an old 8mm home screen.
Pioneer's are good, but the Panny's challenged them so strongly they had to lower their prices.:)

Also, to anyone that is going to be spending some serious coin on a high end set, the best thing you can do for them is to buy a UPS that conditions the power coming into them. Switching power supplies hate inconsistant voltage and power spikes that come from your local power company...trust me..your set will last alot longer.

Truer words were never spoken.
A Panamax is even better.

Pioneer never lowered their prices. In fact the reason they stopped making Pioneer Plasma's is because they couldn't sell enough of them at their prices. But if you want the best, Pioneer is it! Panny's and the rest don't come close to the blacks Pioneer has achieved.

In fact everyone is still trying to achieve or catch up to where Pioneer is today.

Burn-In is over rated these days. It's hard to cause a burn in unless your really gaming alot. My son has played quite a few games on my TV and I have never had a problem with Burn in.

My .02.

This is what I read [at the end of the article - not the only review to say so either]:

Stay FAR AWAY from Samsung, Nothing but trouble for me, I will never buy one of their TVs again. Go with a Sony, Pioneer or Panasonic. Go look up Samsung TVs and you will see people everywhere having problems with every model of theirs.

Ditto on LG...they used to be "Goldstar" apparently.

I have a 37" Sharp Aquos and in 3 years I haven't had a single problem with it. I researched for about 4 months before pulling the trigger and I couldn't be happier.

what's wrong with the samsungs? I've had mine for 2 years and had no trouble so far.

Just so you know, the comparison to the Pioneer model being used in the article is Pioneer's first 1080P production model. Even in the article it's mentioning just as good not better than the Pioneer Pro-FHD1. Imagine if the article was comparing to the the 9th Generation Kuro Models, Pro141, Pro 151, etc?

I just hope when my Pioneer finally goes out, someone out there has a model that can look as good as mine does today!

Ok, let's get back on track to help out the potential buyer. Another big part of which TV to buy, is what you plan on watching on a regular basis? Std or HD TV?

I'm glad you like it.
The one I saw was their top of the line 52" [at the time].
I wasn't sure what they were talking about when they refered to "banding issues",but when I saw a close up of the announcer's face,I knew.
I then moved on to the Pioneer's and they were great.
A little pricey,but great.
Then I went to the high end room and saw the Panny.
It was love at first sight.
