I'm wondering if I can safely mix about 75% pump 93 gas with 25% unleaded 104 octane gas. The reason is because I'm worried about fuel inconsistencies at the pump. I'm not sure, however, if the two gases will mix (even though the majority will be pump gas). I would just like to elevate the octane by a couple of points just as a safeguard.

Thanks for your input.

Well, if you are tuning your car to the edge for racing, then maybe some higher octane would be wise. But you should save that for the track. On the street, you should have a safe tune for your pump gas. If you are the type that likes to go the "fast and furious" route, then, to be absolutely safe you should have an alchy system. Without alchy, keep the boost down to about 15 lbs on the street. An aggressive tune with 19lbs of boost may rack up a few more steet kills, but will also lead to a shorter engine life, a lighter wallet, and an improvement in your head gasket replacement skills.

I just don't know if they will mix properly since the specific gravities of unleaded race gas and unleaded pump gas are different. Is there a safer way to increase the octane without mixing in race gas? Toulene?

I'd like to run about 95 octane on a daily basis in my turbo car. About 17psi. Only reason is to keep the motor safe due to inconsistencies of real octane level at the pump gas stations. Not to mention some gas stations get more customers than others...so you really don't know what kind of quality of gas your really getting. That's why I'd like to add just a couple of points of octane to the tank to ensure safety...but at the same time I don't want to do More harm than Good by doing so if they wont mix right.

You are going in too deep with the whole mixing deal. It will be too much of a headache to do this on a constant basis. If you are concerned about your motor because you are at 17 psi and need the octane to make you feel comfortable then the only thing i would go with in an ALKY KIT. The alky will let you run the car on pump gas without any worries. There are many if us on here running 25+ psi of boost on pump gas with alky kits. Look into it!

Get an alky kit & keep boost low enough for cheap gas.

I have to avoid some local stations which I've caught not putting 93 in the 93 tanks. The TR always tells me if I got cheap gas. I patronize stations which always have good 93 & don't return to those that don't always / or never have good 93.
