Just got my visors back from Jax Seat Cover. They did a great job. Nice stitching and match of fabric.

However, they didn't put new fabric in the center of the lighted visor lid. I called them about this as it doesn't mention that it can't be done in their website. Plus, when I got them back, there was a hunk of fabric in with the visors. Maybe they forgot to put new fabric in that spot??

It appears that the fabric that should go there doesn't have padding on the back. The patch they sent me does.

Their Cust Serv person told me new fabric can't be put in there.

Has anyone dealt with that center portion of the lid?

Funny you mention that..... I got mine back about a week ago and notice the exact same thing. I did not have a chance to call them.

That piece is glued in from the factory. They most likely include that piece so you can glue it in. Why they don't do it who knows. I actually used a piece of matching gray leather in there on mine when I had them redone locally. Looks much better all around with the leather. :)

Have any pics? Do you just peel off the material? What type of glue did you use?

I'll have to take a pic next time I'm over the garage. Cars are in a deep sleep now all covered up :) I just used some 3M Trim adhesive spray. Home Depot and those places all sell it. Spray both sides, let get tacky, stick on. I think I left something heavy on it over night.

I redid my lighted visor last winter myself. That center section was like plastic heat welded shut with the piece of fabric in there from the factory. I tried cutting a piece of fabric to get in there just doesn't look right. Might have to try that leather idea or suede.

I was gonna put that piece in that they sent me,but it is padded fabric. What was in there from the factory, wasn't. So,putting this padded piece in,isn't gonna look right.

My factory piece was glued down, and extended under the lid by 1/8th inch or so.

I like the leather idea. I'll bet it's easier to work with than a light/see-thru piece of fabric.

Jax also told me that the fabric is not available without the padding on the back.

You know... My one '90 Ciera has the same color gray for a headliner, and it is sagging,so the foam is still stuck to the shell. Maybe cut a chunk out of that! (y)

They re-upholster the visor with headliner material. I'm pretty sure it's what they did to back in the 80's. Btw how much did they charge for the visor. I took it to my upholstery place and they didn't want to touch it cause of the plastic frame.

$25 + shipping for plain visors. $35 + shipping for lighted visors.

Not a bad deal considering my local shop,American Glass, wanted almost $100 for just the lighted visor! ..and they couldn't guarantee a perfect match. (In other words, they will see what they have on hand, and use whatever is closest) Blaaaaah!

I'm gonna try something with this patch of fabric they sent...

The fabric without the foam is so thin the glue will bleed through it and look like crap.Thats a Great idea on the leather!!!

Ok,I finally got around to trying something. I took the chunk of fabric that Jax sent me with my reupholstered visors and cut the piece about 3/8in oversized. Then I took a .012 feeler gauge and jewelers screwdriver and tried working it under the cover. It was a really tight fit. You'll have to go little by little. I'd say I screwed with this for 45 minutes. Maybe more. Didn't want to rush and tear the fabric.

I'm gonna let it sit and go back to it in a few days and fine tune it.. Tedious stuff like that...I need a break.

Not sure of what else to do. I want a factory look.
