My buddy likes my car, tells everyone how fast it is when nothing is done to it, buit he gets a b0n3r every time he thinks he's gonna buy a fox body mustang. What the hell is it about them cars? I've rode in them before, don't think they're THAT great:confused: Feel free to move this to the appropriate forum.

Yeah, guess your right. But seems like 75% of them are j@ck offs and think their car is the "superbad supercar";) . Probably just Sioux City though:rolleyes: I thought we were teh one's with the "superbad supercars-LOL!

Its just the fact that they are relatively light....especially the notchbacks and it doesn't take much to make them fast.

Its the feel of those cars that most people like. N/A cars feel like thay are flying going in the 13's. But turbo cars feel like their slow. Plus the buicks ride soft and are quiet. But how many mustang owners fear us.:D .

Yeah, theyd o feel slow, but if you got a slow TB like mine and look down at the speedo, it climbs pretty damn quick if it's not already buried:cool:

I fill like you, I had one and all the mustang guys you talk to are always mad, they don't want to talk about their cars. They just want to stay around other mustang guys!

they're a dime a dozen...truly. Easily obtained and cheap to go fast.

No matter what they do, we will do it to with 2 less cylinders and a little more cash.

That's the allure of the TR. We go fast with a V6. Anybody can haul butt with a V8. We're handicapped and put up a darn good fight. No mustang driver in his right mind will say that he fears no Turbo Regal.

There's always someone out there faster/crazier.

I think of them as " Me too " cars. Oh you have a Mustang? Me too! There's way too many of them. Ego = a man behind the wheel of a Cobra mustang. Thats all fine and good. Everytime they see tail lights of a GN, they wont have to wonder how fast it was

Yeah then they cry you have a turbo, blah blah blah;) . But they're the same guys that think there's no replacement for displacement:biggrin: I wouldn't mind having an notchback LX with a 5spd for a driver. I've read up on some efi 5.0 buildups before. Seems there's no real power until you get some aftermarket heads on them, well unless you strap a turbo on it.

I drove a Mustang convt around for a day or two in the early 90's. It was a 5.0. You can get them sideways real easy. That is probably alot of the appeal - spinning wheels and think you're fast.

Here is why a lot of guys go for stangs...

There are like tampons, every pu$$y must have one... This saying came from a buddy of mine that owns a WS6. I thought that was very funny...

I had a 2003 Mustang Cobra which was a lot of fun to drive. Sick fast car, but couldn't stand the sound of the "whiney supercharger". I took that car to over 160 and it pegged at 170 mph on nice straight open, Florida road.

I owned a 90 Foxbody Coupe with a 347/ with GT40 Heads- E303 Camshaft which was an absolutely awesome, fun car to drive. Put a 150 shot of Nitrous on it along with Mickey ET Streets, and it was a real fun toy.

My favorite Mustang though was a Mustang built by one of the Turbobuick members Frank Woodall, 1BADGT on here who turned a 91 Mustang convertible into a Show/Race car with a really nice Proturbokit Turbocharger on it. That Mustang foxbody was a gorgeous 10 second stang which won many trophies-

I've been to quite a few NMRA Mustang Shootouts, and seen the Sponsorships, and a lot of Mustang carshows. I guess I wasn't around most of the "little punks and badmouths" so many other guys have seen.

I will say that Mustang guys don't have a Community as tight at the Turbobuick Community with this Forum. The Turbobuick community is really awesome. However, they do have a few good communities though, like Corral.net/forums which there's a lot of pretty good Mustang guys out there as well.

Some Mustangs can be Garbage, and just make a lot of noise. Thus is the fact for a lot of other makes of cars respectively. However, I've only owned Mustangs that were really pretty nice. They can be awesome sounding and performance cars if you get the right heads, cam, headers and exhaust.

And can really be a lot of fun to drive if you love and miss driving a Clutch!

I love the 90-93 coupe. Still one of my favorite cars. They are a little harder to come by these days in good condition. Not to mention they are like 2900 lbs.

Me too, I used to look down on the Stangs, they were everywhere, talked bad about the TR's etc., but now I really find the fox bodies (especially the notch) to be cool, and hard to find in good condition.

And you really have to hand it to Ford for the Stangs, they still make them, and support them. Where GM has abandoned us and a powerplant that could have been a hot ticket for them in our gas/oil challenged world we live in today (LC2 = decent gas mileage, lots of power)

Fox bodys are fun! I just sold mine this past summer of course it was no regular 5.0 I had a 351 basic drag fox. They are cheep fun cars to mess around with. I think most Fox body owners are the ones that give the car a bad reputation but what do you expect when billy badass rolls up with his mullet in the wind thinking he owns the streets. As a car I will always love them but as a culture I'll pass

I cant say they are good or bad. I've always had fun at the track with my buddys who do race Mustangs. Okay here's my Mustang story. Many years ago, around 95 IIRC, I took the GN down to Topeka for and open track event. Some of us know these as PCDE(Performance Car Driving Events). Usually the Porsche or BMW club rents a track for the weekend and for a modest entry fee($150-$200) you get to run the wheels off your car depending on your skill level. It's a very safe and controlled enviroment. This time it was held by the SCCA so I had to play with some different rules. Anyway I got through four 30 minute sessions on Saturday before the axle seals go out and soak down my brakes. Well there I am at 7:00PM and we call it a hopeless cause at that point. Well my good friend with a late 80's Saleen clone with some 377 inch creation under the hood had his back go out so he says use his car for Sunday. Now when this particular group of friends get together we always have a contest to see who can turn in the fastest lap times. IIRC my GN was sitting at 2nd or 3rd. So Sunday I climb in and I have to tell you I'm lost because I have never driven a 5 speed in an open track event plus I'm scared to death I'm going to break something on the car. Man this sucker flew down the straights without even trying. Plus it was 400 pounds lighter than the GN which meant I could dive in deep into the turns before I had to brake. Torque up the ying-yang so I hit the gas early coming out of the corners. The bad part was since the rear gear was mismatched to the track I spent most of the time in 3rd or 4th gear depending on the speed. And since I was over driving the car I wasted what tires were left. I couldn't get the car to bite at all after the first 10 laps or so. I had an advanced driver rating so I could pretty much do what I wanted. It was fun putting that car into a powerslide on some of the wider sweepers. Just like drifting in the tighter ones. But you know what? Just like the GN it was fast so in the first 2 laps I put enough distance between me and the rest of the field. Some of the lapped cars told me that they were worried when they saw this Mustang sliding out of turn 14 sideways towards them doing close to 100. That includes the cars that were sitting on the fastest laps. So after the first session I pulled onto pit row and I was mobbed by who wasn't out on that track. It turns out that on lap 8 or so I pulled the fastest time of the weekend. You'd have thought that I was Mario winning the Indy 500 by the crowd. To bad my friends name went down on the leaderboard as they recorded the laps by car number and not driver. It sure was fun while it lasted. I was almost inspired to buy a Mustang or Camaro so I could go racing for real. You wont catch me badmouthing a Mustang. The drivers are a different story.:)

That's a Great Story Turbofish!! That must of been quite a rush to Drift a Saleen at 100 mph!!! Wow! Lucky you. I've driven Saleens, and I love the way they hug turns and handle.

And GNracer1!!! Hey, there's one of my ole Stangs with a TurboBuick Powerplant! How many GM Ponies and Torque was that thing putting out anyways??
