I was going thru old boxes and found my old Tamiya Grasshopper. I loved that thing!!! It was slow as hell so I upraded to an RC 10. I found that one too. Were any of you into RCs back in the day too?

my first REAL one was a RC10 gold pan. i wanted a grasshopper so bad, my neighbors was so fast. but then again he had more money then me :)

hello people; Mine was a optima mid. I started late in the RC. I was in my
20's and it's an off road 4wd car I was using on carpet.
IBBY

My first real one was an team associated rc10 too. Second was a losi lxt. Used to race them from the ages of 13-17. I think I can trace my car addiction back to this hobby. I kinda dropped the hobby when I started working on my first car and the fact that the races were on the weekend nights which was not a good time to have them for a highschool kid. Beer and girls and my 68 fairlane took over lol I still have all my equipment. Thinking about getting it out for my young boys.

First was a grasshopper.
1st real one was an 1984 RC10.....Yup still have it :D

First on for me was a CEN Racing Stadium Truck that lasted a year (i was 13) . I got out of them and last spring I started with a HPI RS4 and a Ofna MBX.

My first one was a TRAXX ( it had tank like rubber ). Thats probably not the right name, lol.

First Nitro is a Tmaxx and rs4 (bought them together ) ---

Mine was a gold pan Associated RC-10 in about 1985, which was later converted to a truck. Went on to race everything electric from dirt off road 2wd (graphite rc-10) and 4wd (optima's), dirt oval 2wd (custom built cars) and 4wd (dominator) to on road 1/12 scale (rc-12 and agitator) and on road 1/10 scale (agitator and custom built cars). Ended up racing at the regional and national level before the money ran out. Even had a tamiya road wizard and hornet for fun. Still have most of them, about 15 left. Never did get into the nitro cars though. Was fun at the time, but when I think of all the money spent, it would have been better spent on the real car hobby or invested in stocks.

Grasshopper was my first..then RC10s Ultima's aluminum and graphite chassis.. Dumped a lot of money into that back in jr and high school went all over racing them too.

I started with the Optima, then Monster Beetle, Clodbuster and RC10(gold chassis). They were a lot of fun. Just wish the damn batteries would last longer.

My first real RC car was a Tamiya Boomerang...it was kinda slow because it was 4WD and didn't have ball bearings, lol. In contrast my good buddy had a Tamiya Fox and he'd always whoop my ass in a race. I put in a Twister motor and turned the tables on him hahaha.

I remember back in the day everybody had a Frog, Grasshopper, or Hornet.

Good topic...hearing all these old school RC cars brings back good memories.

My first was the Big Bear then the Wild Willies jeep. I had a Vanning then a jackrabbit. Then the helicopters started and then ended:biggrin:. I just traded a big block chevy engine for a Hyper 7.This thing was fast for five mins before I smashed it into the fence:(

Electric 1/10 Bolink, no suspension, foam tires, monster truck motor that would kill the battery in 7 min;). Had a Monte SS nascar body, couldn't find a regal
