I picked up a 86 T-type wednesday night for $3700 and just got her home from the track.
Running about 96-97 octane with the help of Xylene.
First 2 passes were 14.0x at 103.5x 2.3x 60ft's with 15 psi.

3rd pass was 13.68@106.5 2.39 60ft. 17 psi.
Nearly everyone's car was off .4-.5 sec and 3-5 mph too.

85+deg and humid as hell too!
I KNOW I need some tires, at least DR's

Only mods are Postons down pipe, Flow master cat back,AFPR and gauge, cold air kit by ?,solid maf pipe with K&N filter, blue tops. adjustable WG.
Cat is still on the car and converter was not locked.

What would be a good off the shelf chip that doesn't require race (leaded) gas?
Or should I ditch that cat!?
Thanks.

You could easily take .6 tenths off your 60' with tires... that'll put you in the 11.90's on a good day.

Try Red Armstrong's 93 octane chip. I'd also ditch the car, put a test pipe on it.

Congrats!!

Mildly modified, heavily modified, or anywhere in between the Max Effort chip is hard to beat. The tunability of the ME chip is amazing. :)

Yes, ditch the cat, you are handicapping yourself until you do.

daum dude what a deal

I'd go for Eric at turbo tweak also he sure helped get mine where its at

when ya coming down this way for a visit :D

I forgot it asls has a 340 fuel pump and hot wire kit.

Yea red I think I got a good deal too. Car cleaned up pretty good, just need some door molding.

How much may the cat be holding me back? .2 tenths?

Thanks for all the chip suggestions.:D

Running good cheap is :D .

Why yes of course... I feel kinda dumb for not mentioning that at first. MaxEffort RULES! I just thought for some reason you wanted to temporarily try out another chip to see what it would do in your car. Duh!

Steve Yaklin's MaxEffort is a really nice setup. Although the inital cost is more than a regular chip, you get dual timing curves (street & race) and a ton of flexibility to tweak the fuel settings yourself. His support is very good as well.

For Bluetops, get a Thrasher 108 with TCC lockup.

There is no reason to spend more than $30 for a chip until you upgrade injectors.

I went 11.53 and 118.31 with an off the shelf T108, a TA49 and a big neck stock intercooler on drag radials.

If you start getting serious, you are going to want bigger injectors than bluetops. Get a custom chip at that point.

Loose the cat and the Flomaster exhaust (if its the stock replacement one). The cat is ultimately worth about .75 seconds because with it there, you can't run the high octane leaded race gas necessay to run really fast. The flowmaster exhaust is backpressure city. A dump will probably pick you up a couple mph.

Who sells the thrasher 108?
$30 bucks, sweet:D

I pulled the back off the computer to find it DID have a chip.

Sticker read

GNIT 93
28# 22 deg

I'm guessing this is a street chip. maybe an old one?
Doesn't seem to have WOT converter lockup.
