I was just sitting here at work watching Buicks pull wheelies on my computer and thought about times. Question I have is when you pull the front wheels what triggers the 60' timing lights? Also what are your 60' times when you pull the wheels?

I am in no way thinking that I will ever pull the wheels, I am just not a good enough racer.

I would say sometimes the front wheels and sometimes the back wheels, depends how long you can carry it out.

1.33 is my best 60' so far:biggrin:

i wish i could pull at least 1 wheel. i have goten a 1.68 maybe if i loose the factory T-type wheels.

The car will still travel a few inches forward as the wheels rise. Breaking the beam

that is one sick ass launch got to love the T-Brake
I did not think that a trans brake would twist the car that hard before launch.
I have on but barely use being that I am still learning. That was pretty cool launch anyway.

My car started pulling the wheels, or "Totting the tires" as we like to say back home, when the car got into the 10.90 range and or 1.55 60ft range. I can tell you, going from a 1.55 to a 1.45 is a big difference. It's like getting hit from behind by a Mack truck. I can only imagine what a 1.30-1.25 would feel like. I'd imagine it would be very addictive.

Here's one of my decent pics from BG 2004.

This was a 1.45 60ft en-route to I believe a 10.12 @ 133 pass during testing. My normal routine during test and tune and qualifying was to set the trans brake, wait for the lights to go green, then mat it, once I saw the boost number I was aiming for, I let go of the button and BAM!!! Hard launch.

Another one of me racing Red and getting put on the trailer in I believe '03.

I learned the hard way that at this power level, if you try to hold the boost at a certain level with your foot, that when you release the button, you foot will come off the gas slightly. It always showed up on my datalogs where the TPS would drop out when my foot would lift. I switched over to flat foot launching not long after that. Try it sometime, you'll be surprised at the results.

Good post.

Take a closer look at the video. You'll notice that he's power braking into the lights. And then just a second or two before he launches you see the front end drop and the chassis unload, that's the trans brake being applied.

flat foot launching?

Stage car, push t-brake button, let off foot brake, wait for green light, mat the gas to the floor while watching the boost gauge, see the number I want, let go of button and hold on. Steer car straight if need be, shift when I see shift light out of corner of my eye and don't forget to breath. That 1-2 comes on fast at these speeds.
Flat foot launching.
 :D

Makes me want to build another car....
Hmmm, I wonder if Sarah would like to go TSM racing?
Hmmmmmmm.......

I can see that now. Thanks. I think I need a bunch of practice launching.

I have the perfect setup for that... ;) Leave Sarah like she is and add another one to the stable.

Patrick, you listen to Jason and leave Sarah be (haha). I had a stage right trans brake in my T-type and went from 1.58 60' to a 1.42 60' with a 10lb launch. Cal and Dave have clicked the 60' with the rear tires a time or too.Jason we miss you here in Valrico .
