Changing rear diff fluid
took off cover... no gasket?
drained it
Questions
where is the fill hole!?!
do I buy gasket or use RTV
sorry for rookie q's , but never fiddled w/ rear-end

Use rtv, fill hole is on the top of the pumpkin.

Never fiddle with the rear fill hole until you master the front one.

The "Right Stuff" or loctite in a cheez whiz can makes a good rear end gasket.

RTV if you want to remove the cover next time with a screwdriver... The Right Stuff if you want to remove it with a chisel.

The fill hole is conveniently situated to promote the most spillage out of the dope container. And there's a little shelf of iron to hold the spillage for maximum driveway dispersion.

there is a gasket available, if you use rtv, let it set a while before you add oil....

the fill hole is on the side of the snout of the rear end. its a threaded plug that you use a 3/8" socket extension without a socket. (the plug has a square hole).
