Ok started to hook up my tie down strap to keep the engine from moving around ... hwoever pretty tight in that area so was wondering where you hook "the other end" of the strap? Any pictures would be great as it seems to either ride on the AC compressor housing, and or the steering coupler thing ... so no where really I can see where to hook it into the frame / engine cross member or similar and clear everything when hooked up to the eye nut I installed on the alternator per picture.

Hi Jan...

You will need to jack the TTA to see the hole on the bottom. Strap will run between the two cylinders closest to you on the drivers side as you are looking at the engine from the front. I am sure you can find it now. If you can't I will jack my TTA later and post pics.

The strap should pull almost straight down now. Remember, every degree away from this angle (pulling straight down) will allow the engine to twist more. Think of what way the engine would spin if it wasn't on motor mounts?

Most people will disagree with me and tell you to strap it to the slot of the strut tower. C'mon everyone... post a pic of their strap attached to the slot in the strut tower so we can all point at it and laugh:p You can get rid of the bar now too Jan. Now that is a stock appearing TTA:D

I am just busting ballz everyone... it's early and I haven't had any caffeine.

Well had along look to find any hole to hook the strap to, is this on the engine cross member (top or bottom side?) or on the frame somewhere?

Still not sure where to hook it up ... if you say straight down between the two first cylinders this would not be a straight verticl line down from the alternator eye nut .. vertical stright down to me looks more like down past the AC compressor somewhere?

The horizontal brace people use, and I used to have one as well before I rebuilt the engine, would only hold the engine moving sideways from driver to passanger side but would have limited impact on up and down movemnet (or the twisting/rolling movement) but it would help a little bit.

My "bar" is the strut tower brace so helps with cornering, keeps strut towers from flexing in or out, so nothing to do helping the engine stay in place :-)

So yes any photos or diagrams would help me out

I can not get any good pics Jan. Just look around for slots near the crossmember and latch it pretty tight.

Drivers side rear of crossmember on the bottom. There is a hole. Close to frame rail.

Dont have pix

not to hijack...but I now have the HRpartsNstuff poly mounts on my car, do I still need the strap or is it no longer necessary or should I just leave it on for added assurance? Makes for a interesting conversation piece at car show and the local cruise nights

Don't use it. Only reason I use it on the TTA is because I am too lazy to change the mounts. Dads GN has the poly mounts (with no vibrations to boot) and you don't need one anymore.

I kinda figured that...I'll pull it off

Thanks,
