Hi guys,
I just got done rebuilding my 700r4 for my truck, 1st transmission I ever did, I followed the ATSG book step by step and was very confident it would work. Well, it goes in all gears good but after about 5 minutes of running, it started making a whining/whurring(like gear drive, bad power steering) noise. I shut the motor off after about 1 minute of that, I'm hoping the fluid will "soak in" to quiet the tranny. But maybe it needs to get up to temp first? I dunno. I just don't want to ruin it.
The invested parts in this project is a 1991 700r4, new tcc solenoid, borg warner clutches, band, steels, transgo jr shift kit, corvette servo, .500" tv valve, new updated regulator valve, and new precision torque converter. I filled it with dextron III, 6 quarts before firing it up, 3 quarts after, 1/2 quart in converter before install. I also used transgel assembly lube during the rebuild on most parts. Could that be clogging something till it warms up?
And will it be safe to run it till it warms up, or should I take it apart and see whats going on? I have installed lots of fresh trannies and never heard this sound before. Scares me because this is my 1st rebuild of my own.

Further conclusion to my problem is it is only when the driveshaft is turning, no noise in park or neutral. and it seems to be coming from the rear of the transmission. Not up front near the pump. Any ideas? I changed the govenor and took off the tailshaft to inspect if anything is rubbing in there, don't seem to be?

took it for a test drive, shifted good, downshifted when matted, but reverse seems like it is slipping more and more, actually had a hard time backing up my inclined driveway and trying to climb over a little "bump" to get it back into the garage. I guess its gotta come back out. Probably something in the lo-rev assembly?

Well, finally got some time to take a look at this problem, anyone want to take a stab at the problem explained? It sounded like a whining noise only in gear and towards the rear of the transmission.
