There's no fee's involved. The person donating the item post's their raffle on the HAMB section rather than parts for sale section, or in the
lounge in our case, these are the high traffic areas, where people go for community activity rather than business, so it makes sense to do it here rather than the sale section.
By posting a raffle, you just PM for a sticky on it, and agree that at the end of the time period, you will ship the
Donated item to the winner upon receiving a PM from the site owner that he's been paypal'd the winning funds.
You can chose to additionally donate the shippping expenses, or require that the winner paypal them to you since you've after-all already donated. You could even require in your posting that the shipping will come from you, but it's cost be added and paid in addition to the winning bid, to the site owner.
It's all wide open as to how someone would choose to help support.
It doesn't even have to specifically be car parts. Often there's art work, services or automobilia offered.
And once it gets off the ground, I'm sure we'll find occasion to put up raffles for other member's or their families, who've fallen on "hard times" of one kind or another.
The part that works for me, is that it's all voluntary. You get to do something for what you're getting out of hanging around here and somebody else gets to show their support too!
One final thing I should mention is that yes, I've found that the item I received wasn't quite as great as what I thought I'd be getting a time or two. There's no feedback system with this. It's the HONOR SYSTEM. I've tried to remember that while I might've donated a $150 intake or something on occasion while receiving nothing but the joy of participation, a 'not so great' item is just another of those occasion's. But myself and friends don't forget who would make a cruddy donation in the future either.
It's not so much about what you get in giving, is it?
