I was at the Buick vs. Ford in Noble Ok. this past weekend & one of the Buick members tightened his spark plug gap from .032 down to .025 & with no other changes told me he gained .5 in the 1/4!! Anyone else here experience gains by going to under .030 gap?

not sure about that much gain but i run my gaps at .025-.028 with stock ignition setup with no probs i have seen cars with to big of a gap not run right and even some with to small of a gap its really just a trial and error and how mcuh boost you plan on running

You need to run a smaller gap cause under such high cylinder pressures, the spark has a very hard time jumping the gap. Plug gap on my cobra was .055", and when I had the blower on, I brought it down to .028. I have it set about the same on the GN. If your friend gained that much, there is no doubt that he was experiencing spark blow out before closing the gap. Iridiums cure that problem without having to close the gap, and are very good plugs on forced induction cars. But Ive heard that TR's have an issue with them at higher boost levels. Just run a good copper plug with a tight gap.

I had to run .030 or tighter at around 25#,the added cylinder pressure makes it hard for the spark to jump the gap.

I remember one time my car popping and banging running 7.4s at redline, and then i re gapped the plugs tighter and went straight to 7.0's.

Seriously.

10 second car ???

if so once you get up in them cylinder pressures its not that hard to blow out the fire on a big gap ..

I typically run .028
