Why are these turbos so much?

My buddy said he is putting this turbo on his car and when I saw the price I nearly **** myself. Why are they so much? I can get a turbo for our cars for 745 bucks brand new and complete and it will support over 600hp. Whats so special about these?

you probably haven't priced a double BB GTQ series turbo recently.........

If it's for a "sport compact" (aka ricer), you automatically can double the price, simply because they'll pay it.

I guess not. What kind of numbers can u put down with that turbo? This kids car is never fast and he has owned a lot of cars. So I find it hard to believe that he would invest in something that is for over 1000hp or something extreme like that.

Here is the deal with the pricing. The import market sets up it's pricing so that dealers, like me, can make $$ by selling their product. The Domestic parts manufacturers sell to places like Summit, where dealers, like myself, can barely even get the products for the price that Summit sells them for. Kinda hard to sell a customer a part for 10% more than what they can get it out of Summit for.

HKS uses Garrett turbos, but they cast their own exhaust housings. They are almost all dual ball bearing turbos. HKS does sell the worlds most expensive turbos though. I sell the HKS parts for roughly 83% of list (17% off). I can do better on most parts though.
