Ok I agree suporting some that support you!

But I used 2 venders from here and all they seem to be is middle men stock nothing just drop ship!

case in point vender #1

called placed a order for a crank shaft and flywheel chared my CC right away cauple days later flywheel shows up (cool thats fast) 3 weeks later still no crankshaft. called thay said GN performance dropped the ball. Called GN performance. said it shipped today just got the order today! HUMMM been better off calling them Myself (been cheeper to).

Vender 2

called May 20th placed a order for motor mounts and boost controller. Had to call Hr parts and stuff to see if they had in stock. (I could have done that) and today is June 21st OVER A MONTH later STILL NO boost controller. (was told RJC dropped the ball I will call you back) still no call back from verder 2.

so I guess my question is, Why use a verder is they stock nothing and you are getting no price brake what so ever? you are paying LIST might as well go to the people that make the parts! I'm I wrong in my thinking?

Just gotta learn from it and buy a vendors part direct from that vendor. Cutting out the middle man will always save time money and confusion. A vendors feelings won't be hurt if u buy directly from the maker.

Here is how I look at it....

Most of our unique vendors (meaning buick specific) on here do this out of a love of this car. They fill a need by making or sourcing parts we need or want, investigating or inventing alternative parts and make our hobby better.

Keeping in mind these are part time jobs for alot of people its hard to keep high dollar or slow moving items in stock. I know they are drop shipping some of these items and buy it from them as a thank you for making the one off items and the help they give to the community as a whole with their advice and time.

Could I cut them out and go right to the big vendor supplying that piece, sure. But if its the same price why not help out the little guy that helps us out? If they are dropping the ball, then thats unacceptable and I wouldn't use them again but I wouldn't see that as a reason to avoid supporting vendors by any stretch of the imagination.

Just my $0.02

I like you .02 and I understand what you are saying. NOT saying I wont support just 2 dropping the ball and blaming outhers is not good. Keep up on orders. keep people coming back and saying good things.

That makes no sense whatsoever!

The vedors that drop ship items are not in it to help us out they are in it to help themselves out!

We're not selling items to millions of people here only a small family.

I know this site has a hard enough time keeping going but if a vendor does not have a specific item to sell and only drop ships everything then he should not have permission to sell here.

This site was founded to help the TR enthusiast, not take advantage.

EXAMPLE
Why would i pay a second party $65 for an RJC power plate when i could buy it from RJC for the same amount hence giving RJC more capitol to invest and invent more custom items for my car?

D

Hmmmm, think Jegs and Summit makes everything themselves and never drop ships?? Yeah, maybe there are some vendors who don't have any hand in making any of their products but some of us do. BUT, at least in my case, I am not getting rich making cold air kits, maf pipes, up pipes, radiator pipe kits, turbo drains etc. You need to diversify a bit to stay in business. The more products you have to sell, the better.

Why do you think the manufacturers love having dealers? The more of them they, have the more their product is being advertised AND being sold AND helping keep THEM in business too.

Some of us make it a point to use the stuff we sell too. Recent case in point is the console risers we started selling a couple months ago. Made the manufacturer aware that a lot of us use the ashtray area for switch panels and there standard riser covers that area. Came up with the idea of making a shorty version, did a test fit on my own GN and now they are available to my customers. Had requests for no cupholders and trying to persuade them to make those as well.

True there are some people selling stuff on ebay who buy at retail pricing and then sock it to the customers. Can really only think of a couple who do that.

Who do you think helps pay the bills on this message board to keep it going? Yes, the vendors. Be thankful that there are still some of us here willing to keep things going.

The biggest issue I have with some of the vendors is the OUTRAGEOUS shipping charges !!!!!!! SERIOUSLY ??????? Do you think we don't understand what shipping really costs? The USPS even supplies boxes and has flat rate shipping-if it fits it ships.
I don't have an issue if a vendor drop ships, just let the customer know UPFRONT that there will be a delay. Don't act like it is in stock just to make a sale, it just makes you look bad.

The nice thing about the U.S.A. is that you can buy just about anything you want from just about anyone you want. You can also complain about anyone you want too. By coming on here and complaining about supporting vendors (the few left) will not get you one bit of praise. Ive been screwed over by many including manufacturers when i bought direct. Its nice to have a supporting vendor you have a relationship with when things get screwed up. More often than not they will resolve the issue instead of you wasting hours trying to convince the manufacturer their parts/service suck.

FWIW, shipping is crazy. Just from the things I sell here. I hade to pay $49 to ship an intake to CA from OH from usps, $75 to ship an exhaust to CA as well.

I try to support the Vendors that are helping us, and I've found that some "Middle men" are actually cheaper than buying direct from the manufacturer!

Case in point :
RJC Stock plenum power plate @ Kirban's = $59.95
RJC Stock plenum power plate @ RJC racing = $65.00

I have no idea why. Buying in bulk? Dennis, Mark and Brian (to name only a few) really support their fellow Buick enthusiast's and I appreciate that!

Pretty much says it all.

It's so the manufacturer doesn't cut the throat of the retailer.

This debate goes round-n-round. Wait til you go to order an item from the manufacture and he is out. Then you will be happy that the other guy had a few. You got to remember that these vendors are not Mr Gasket and Edelbrock, they are in a very small building or garage. Just be happy you have a choice of where to buy a part for your very rare and mostly forgot about model of car. If we relied on the bigger vendors to make parts for us, we would still be running 12's.

I'm all about help thoes that help you to a point! If you as a vender is drop shipping parts keep up on it! (make sure parts ship)

But if I can buy a product from the people who make it/supply it(to the venders) at the same cost, and then you know when things ship why not, when there is a problem you have to go to the peple who make it anyways. saves time and effort.

No, that's not always true. Most of the time the vendor can and will take care of your needs.

can't even count the hours every day we spend on the phone with people who've never even purchased a paper-clip from us, about their malfunctioning cars and products they've purchased direct from the manufacture because they can't get through to the 'tech-line'. most of the vendors are racers, so why wouldn't you want to talk to someone with experience before you decide to throw money at your car? if the vendors go out, who are you going to talk to?

buy direct from the manufacture ---> vendors go out of business ---> no funding for this messageboard = a lot of people with thumbs up their asses and cars that won't start.

I hope that wasn't insulting to anyone:)

the venders I an refuring too don't make parts just sell parts and don't seem to stock parts. I'm saying call ------- to order a crank they get it from Gn1 performance order a girdle when you can call rjc. They and both sell parts on here. So why use someone that don't make the parts or stock.the parts. If so anyone of use can be a middle man.

Ive done buying on both ends. One year purchased motor mounts from HR parts directly. Took a couple of weeks finally got them cause they were actually making them. This year bought Lower HR CA from G body Parts. I called and asked them if they were in stock cause I did not want to wait. They said yes. I called Paul at HR Parts for a question I had on Installation told him I just ordered Lower CA and he told me that they would be going out the next day?? Drop shipping. Most of all the vendors are not charging a mark up on the price and taking this huge middle man markup. Im sure they just have agreements on here to sell their products. Time can be an issue, but there is customer service and then there is great customer service. There is shipping $18 for items that weight a pound or two and then there is actual price shipping. I really don't think any of the Vendors are making a penny on shipping charges.

seems like you just had two unlucky isolated incidents. most, if not all vendors on here try to carry everything they sell, which can be a strain at times, but we try our best;)

keep in mind, the manufacture can run out of material too.
