Everytime I reboot/restart my laptop I get the Windows error message "Your computer recovered from a serious error"

How do I correct this? Windows XP updates work fine.

Shane thanks...but I already tried that. I tried downloading it and said my computer has the newer version already.

I used to have that problem and come to find out that I didn't a good mother board to hold enough DDR memory. How much DDR you have right now on your lap top?

XP Home or Pro? SP2 Kind of a given if updates are working, just want to make sure? Have you made any changes to your system lately? How long has it been going on? Did you try a system restore yet?

XP Home or Pro?

XP Home SP2

SP2 Kind of a given if updates are working, just want to make sure?

I have the auto updates enabled

Have you made any changes to your system lately?

Nope

How long has it been going on?

About a week. Last Sunday when I rebooted/restarted the laptop, Windows would not start up, it kept shut down and restarting. I had to manually shut off the power and removed the battery. When it re-booted, it went to the black screen with white writing (looked like DOS) and picked "last working configuration" and Windows restarted. Ever since I get the "Serious Error" message

Did you try a system restore yet?

What's that.

I had the same problem. I had to hit F10 on startup page and run a system recovery. I was able to keep my data files, but some programs had to be re-installed. I haven't had a problem in over 2 years since.

If you can get into windows, I would back up your important data files and try the recovery option.
