Someone threw up a rock on the way to a cruise tonite and of course hit my windshield. Put a nice bullet hole type ding in the windshield right in front of the driver. Is there a way of repairing this so it isn't real noticeable. No cracks right now, just a 1/2" diameter dinger. Sort of ruined my nite.

Hey Mark, I had a small crack in the windshield of the elky and I wanted it fixed before winter, so it wouldn't spread. The place charged me $35:mad: . Then I had a friend tell me he picked up a rock in his windshield and tried the kit they sell at autozone and when he described it, it was the same thing they used at the windshield shop, it was around $10 and he said it worked good. I don't think there is a way to fix them good enough where you cannot tell though:(

Eastwood has a window repair kit Item #4009 $26.99 . Works good I used it on my Ridgeline.

The key is to get it fixed asap before it gets dirt in it. The sooner you fix it the better it will look when done. And do yourself a favor & call a safelite or novus in your area & pay the $35 to have it done professionally with a $1500+ machine. I own a glass company and use the safelite machine, it is ten times better than the $200 peice of junk I had before it. I can only imagine what you get for $10 at autozone:rolleyes: .

I purchased one of Auto Zones kits one time and it will look better than it does right now however you will always know it is there. Over time it will start to yellow due to the UV rays. It is a cheap get by for a while.

That is a bummer deal. Sorry to hear how your night went.

insurance

 My insurance covers that type of damage... Check your deductible (mine is $50). May be better to get a new windshield.
