Ive been interested in getting a system. They look like their are alot of good sytems out their.I look at reviews on almost everything i do nowadays.Their are so many systems out their i would spend a week studying them.Does anybody have any experience with these systems?
The systems @ Best Buy have pretty bad reviews.Tis would be for my house/gearage/yard.4 cameras would probably enough.
any experiences you have would be helpfull ,good, bad, ugly stories?
thanks

We've got a Vivint system. Pretty basic system that has performed excellent so far. It can be had had with one (pretty much useless) indoor camera. My only gripe is that there is (or seems to be) no way to make it interface with other non-Vivint sub-systems. I'd love to build a 4 to 6 cam system using a NAS server that would tie-in to my Vivint. Maybe if I could find a good hacker...

I'm looking online and see a professional installed system.did you purchase you're poetically and install? Where did you purchase from?

I think Vivint only does sales & installs. Sales people are canvassing neighborhoods in our area or you could call them. AFAIK, no self-install available. Not to say you couldn't buy & install the hardware, but the monitoring is cellular and in their control...

I just recently put in a D-Link system that Best buy sells. If you don't have a DLink router, it's a little more difficult, but it's not that bad. My biggest issue was getting the HD to record the cameras even though Dlink recognized the HD was present. Once I found the forum, it was a easy fix to get it to record. It works well with Iphones even on 3G . My only gripes are that searching thru the HD is a little clunky and documentation could be better for non DLINK router users. The cams are HD and do well in low light.
