As cheap as SD cards are these days you should actually load the cameras with them. They may be the only video you get...

Yeah - you might have a point.
If any perps swipe the DVRs.
The D Link units I bought don't have the SD option though.
But fair point.
As usual - you are the bearer of bad news! :D

No - but if I come home tomorrow and my DVRs are gone, left with only bare cables and an outline of dust where they sat - then I mightl! :D

Can you dust before I show up?...:D

Bryan

LOL - You're starting to sound like my girlfriend.
Yeah - I'll get right on that.
Just as soon as I get this intake manifold out of the kitchen sink that is degreasing!
Oh gotta run - the oven timer just went off - my powder coating is ready

My business was robbed two weeks ago. Nine restaurants were hit before the bank holiday. I only keep one days worth of business in the safes...which were both consequently destroyed. I have a 8 camera DVR which is made to look like a router. It was hung in the basement with my other routers. They got the cash, didn't touch anything else, did not break anything but the safes and side door....they did however take the DVR! No internet back up available for this system. I would have thought out of fear they would have destroyed or taken the laptops in the office, but they did not.

Some of the other restaurants kept several days of business and personal savings In their safes....we were lucky.

The police told me they think it is gypsies from Massachusetts.... I said WTF did you just say?

No matter what, if they want it bad enough they will get it

Blame it on the Gypsies.
Shitty blacktop sealant.
Child trading
And now burglaries.
They're moving up in the food chain.

Sorry to hear ...
This is exactly why SD cards are used in the cameras, they have to get to the cameras to get all of the video not just the DVR.
Most new cameras have provisions for cards. Use 16 to 32 Gig cards , the larger the better.

Step One is complete. I purchased a 16Ch DVR (2TB of memory) with a variety of 10 hi-res color/IR cameras all hard wired. I can access this system through any computer. Cost = $2000.
Step Two is the actual alarm system but is still in progress because I’m having issues finding a phone/answering machine that will work with the unit I’m interested in. This wireless unit will sound two alarms (120db and 140db) and call up to 9 different phone numbers. It allows me to call into the control panel and reset the alarm via phone – if I can find the right phone/answering machine.
The issue I’m still having is I need an answering machine that will allow me to bypass the answering machine by dialing ## and allow me to access the alarm control panel kind of like dialing into a fax machine. I don’t want monthly/yearly phone fees. Any Ideas on phones????

Each house would need a receiver and cameras b/c the cameras are hard wired.
If you just want an alarm system there are fairly inexpensive units ($200 and less) that will sound alarms and call a phone. This is what I'm trying to setup for stage two.

I didn't, the officer did. I have my eye on persons who have already been in my office as they liked us enough to not destroy stuff like all the other places hit that night. They also knew what was the DVR and what was not. No visible wires and looks exactly like the other routers next to it. It was somebody I know. I just don't know who. I let a coke dealer/bartender go last year because he was/is a lying scumbag. My barrels are aimed that away.
