Today for some reason my car would not start after going thru the normal Thrasher chip security sequence, it would start and run for about a second then die just as if I did not do the sequence. Ran fine the last time out and haven't done anything to the car, except its been sitting for about 3 weeks.
Finally the battery died completely from starting it, and everything reset, like the radio stations and clock when the starter was cranked.
Hooked up the jumper cables, and now it starts right up......

It was as if the ECM needed to be reset because the security feature was not releasing....anything like this happen you anyone else with a Thrasher?

The same exact thing happened to me today. The battery was dead, so I jumped it off, went through the security sequence, and it would run 2-3 seconds and quit. First time this has ever happened, I finally put my RA93 in and if fired right up. Hopefully someone can chime in here.

Thrasher chip

Thats weird because the same thing happend to me last week. So i put the stock one in and it worked fine, so i swapped it back out with the thrasher and now the thrasher is working. Be nice to know what is causing this.

I forget the exact voltage, but, if your battery voltage drops to around 10.5 v during the cranking cycle, the thrasher will not allow the car to start..something about memory being lost, as I recall.

If you have a scanmaster or similar, watch the voltage when cranking.

Sounds like you have a low battery, or, the ecm thinks it is low due to a poor connection inline somewhere.

if your voltage is low .IE low battery it will not work .I am not goin to say why on here ..........................but just think about it and you will figure it out

I think I know what you're getting at Bob, although all the sensors appeared to be reading correctly when I hooked up Direct Scan and went thru the paces and tried to start it, but I guess the voltage would drop while cranking it enough to reset the ECM and it would then forget you went thru the paces to start it. Guess it will be new battery time soon :(
Thanks for the info.

Mine too did the same thing, replaced it with a JC and it starts right up. I think mine is another problem....sorry

The problem IS battery voltage. When the original chip software was written, there were several modifications to the code. Whether it was intentional or not, I do not know, but the minimum required voltage for starting was increased from 9 volts to ~10 or 10.5 volts.

Once you have the battery warmed up/fully charged, the chip will work as intended. BTDT.

I too had the problem 2 weeks ago...came out one morning (temp was below 30 degrees) no start. I was in a hurry so I took my daily driver came back a few hours later (temp around 40) and it started up fine haven't had a problem since. I carry the stock chip just in case.

You guys are right, my negative battery terminal was loose:rolleyes: , thats what caused it:D
