Well thinking of Selling the TTA ,the car is a roller that just came back from the paint shop, ask (Brer Rabbit) how the paint turned out,(Awesome).Basically the car is missing the motor, trans, torq arm,and has a GTA cluster(so no boost gauge),no engine harness.. but the rest is complete,oh it also needs new door/t top seals as the originals were taken off to paint..perfect project car for $100...

What I was thinking (if allowed) was to sell 60 tickets at $100 ea. ,basically if you paid first then you are number 1 and second to pay is number 2.. then set a date and use the Illinois lottery numbers to pick the winner,ex: lets say we set the date for April 15th,whatever the first lottery number is on that date is the number for the TTA raffle winner

What I really need to break even is $5500,(and thats a $400 loss since the wing is new)the remainder will go toward shipping the car,if it cost less to shipp, more in my pocket,if more to ship winner pays difference...

let me know your thoughts,,

damm your fast ,were you reading as i was typing....

Raffles are Illegal over the internet unless all money goes to charity, Last week I had big hair brained idea that i shot over to Shane about the next giveaway and figured we could have drawings like twice a month leading up to giveaway blah blah

before he had chance to respond I found out on the web about it being illegal in every state

kinda sux really but thats the way it goes:(

I think mail as well due to Gov thingy...no fun allowed!

Addition about my idea, i thought is was a good one, say everyone puts in till we reached say 600 then it drew, 100 was kept back for the next build...and 500 was to be used by winner to a vendor on this board...just hypothetical numbers but you get the idea...but its against the law....

lol i know it does suck and i thought about it too long and hard all the car shows, but its somthin about the internet crossin state lines etc...i looked hard for any and every loop hole

Ok the $500 remaining will go to Charity....Pick one:)

LOL nope all or nothin.. i went everywhere on line from Ask a bandit..er i mean a Lawyer , I asked Jeeves, I asked the Beatles..I asked Timothy Leary but he couldnt help me either

Ok , Pm me your number and I will tell you "over the Phone" how to send funds ,if you have less than 100 posts then I will not respond to you ,you could be "Big Brother"...

They told me it's not legal to do that ; need to check state laws out illegal in Kentucky and NC. I was going to do it this year at BG.

OK guys
Why would something like this be illegal?
I will talk to my bro he is a lawyer. If any one has the exact wording on this law can you please post it?

example "Selling Buick mugs for $55.00 each make shore you don't loose your receipt because after the 100th one is sold one lucky mug buyer will get a this free car."

The problem is the Internet knows no boundaries.... Some states have very restrictive laws on this stuff... That is why we couldn't require anyone to donate for the Toys 4 Tots car....

BE VERY CAREFUL:wink:

Good luck!

Pulled from some website.

Basically a lottery. There are tons of legal issues as well. First, traditional buy-a-ticket raffles are illegal in many states, a felony now in Oklahoma and illegal in New Mexico, to name two examples. In the majority of the rest of the state, extensive licenses must be filled out, or raffles are limited to non-profits.

The research done by the Berner-Garde Foundation sums it up the best:

There is a variety of laws and opinions regarding internet raffles. Most of the information leads to the conclusion that it is unlawful to hold a raffle on the internet. Investigation has shown that:
1. Each state has its own Raffle laws. States where raffles are legal have their own separate rules and regulations for holding raffles. In states where raffles are legal some type of raffle license must be obtained from the pertinent state office.
2. Raffles are considered a form of gambling. Gambling is carefully monitored by state and federal regulations. The three basic criteria that satisfy the definition of gambling are: (1) a prize is awarded; (2) the winner of the prize is determined purely by chance; and (3) some consideration or payment is required to participate.
3. Although each state has its own raffle rules, if one were to hold an internet raffle we would be crossing interstate lines. For instance, in the state of Oklahoma, raffles are illegal. We cannot research and obtain a raffle license in each state. It would be impractical and non-cost effective.
We have contacted state raffle offices, the US Justice Department and researched the Internet. Although we have not found a written law saying specifically "no internet raffles," we have got enough information to conclude that it is illegal.

So Internet raffles that do exist are still operating solely because someone hasn't shut them down yet. We checked on Ohio's specific raffle laws: a raffle must be conducted by a non-profit on file with the IRS.

So it seems that although I would be buying a 50 dollar coffee mug, IM still required to purchase something in the hopes that by chance I am picked to win a prize

Tulsa Vette Set is a Not For Profit, Oklahoma corporation, established in 1971, whose purpose is to encourage planned trips, events and social activities for Club members; to provide and regulate competition events and exhibitions for Corvette owners; and to encourage careful and skillful driving on public highways; and support charitable efforts.

key word up there in big bold letters

So although they are donating some proceeds, they are registered as NFP

I wish it could be done legally id be first in line for a ticket

your best bet to try and get away with it would be to make up a website thats password protected, hit folks up in private to visit site and hope they bite

Remember when this whole thread started I said I am loosing $400 ,,,where is my profit

NOT FOR PROFIT....
