So after a meet on Sunday, 4 of us went for a little drive. I had a fun. Made a couple short WOT blasts. Lots of fun driving with other turbo Buicks. Well I got stuck at a left hand turn red light, the other 3 guys were ahead of me and stopped to wait. The light took forever. When it went green I gave it a little gas and then started the turn, then went a little over half throttle. The boost kicked hard and she fishtailed right then back left. On the left fish tail my rear bumper caught a Trailblazer in her front wheel.

The hit was not that hard, I hardly felt it. But it tore the bumper from the drivers side mount and then pushed the bumper across the car and bent the passenger side frame. The frame in turn ripped the trunk floor pan and pudhed the passenger quarter into a mangled mess.

Pics are a little large so I posting a link to them. Insurnace so far is asying he will not total it. He liked the car and thought this is one we need to fix. The body shop has done loads of work for me in the past. I will keep things posted.

YEAH that sucked!!!!

At least no one got hurt and your insurance is working with you... cant wait til you get it back together... i guess it will give you time to figure out the headgasket issue;) and the body shop can fix your front end gaps too...

..it was fun to drive around with 3 other Turbo Buicks though.... was perfect weather. Let me know if you need anything - i will be on the lookout for a good quarter and bumper if you havent found'em yet. - Aaron

Thanks, ask your bro if he can come down to the car show. I can get you guys some methanol if you need it. 2.50 a gallon.

Glad no one was hurt and your ok! Shame looks like a beautiful GN as well. One thing I learned with these cars...

Turning thru an intersection + boost + a little loose gravel on the road = your looking the other way real quick!

You snagged the drivers side rear bumper on a trailblazer and it screwed up the other side 1/4 panel like that? Holy crap i would have never expected it to look that bad.

Can i kick you in the bean bag for doing this?

BW

Dang!

Sorry to hear that.

Hope it goes back together soon.

Geeezzzz.........

NEVER punch into it going around a corner in these cars. If you step into it just hard enough to get the turbo to start racing up, your tail end is GONE. But I guess you know that....now.

Good luck, and hell yes, save it!

guessing that when bumper came off it pushed the opp qtr and wrinkled it.hope they don't total it because that's some serious damage. good luck

I hit her in the front drivers side wheel with my drivers side rear bumper. That pushed my bumper passenger side and messed up the passenger side quarter. The drivers side quarter is barely messed up.

Now I have to decide what car to take to Columbus, the GS or the hot air limited. You going to Ohio?

Wow...that sucks!...BUT...you don't need ANY boost when TURNING!! Boost is for staight line driving!!

Hope the insurance will fix it right! I'm sorry for you...At least, you didn't get hurt!...

Good luck with the insurance claim and the repairs!

Claude

Dude, you have to learn how to control your fish tail burnouts (i.e. know when and how fast to turn the wheel back)! I do it all the time at intersections

I hope it gets fixed right and hopefully the new paint job will be better than the previous one! Chuck in columbia did Troy Doolady's car and its darned near perfect.
I will not be headed to ohio, too much going on

BW

ouch sorry about that jay that sucks.!!!! i guess you put on some felpros and were you cometics blown out to the header side

I looked at the pictures, I shouldn't have. I think I threw up a little in my mouth. Sorry to hear, I hope you get it fixed and it's done right.

Keep us posted.

Now its time to get some real tires!!!! something that hooks. I did that same move a few times. not on purpose and without the wreck. Talk about make you have to get the seat extractor out afterwards if you know what I mean:eek:

I have Nitto 555 285's on the rear for daily driving and them swap over to MT for racing. What tires give better grip of the road for a daily driver?

I did not mean to get in the boost as hard as it did. One of the side effects of the RJC bleeder, boost kicks in hard and I usually love it but this time it hurt.

The body shop said it should not take more than a few weeks, not that I believe that of course
