yes, although the SRT-4 is FWD it does handle very well in my opinion. A friend of mine has one and has already added an adjustable wastegate, 50 shot of nitrous, cold-air and chip. He is only waiting to break to motor i so he can turn up the boost, but I must say even with the 14 or so lbs. hes running right now, it is a very strong runner. Get a good driver in that car and it would really perform.

A Mustang Cobra?

Now, isn't that a 'horse' of a different color? :D

I agree about the SRT, for under $350 Mopar will bump HP to 240 with a warranty. I have more opportunity to go fast in a straight line with my vehicles than auto cross.

Please check your sources on that one.

We did an article on tuner cars with factory upgrades and their warranties. Corporate Dodge told us that they WILL NOT give a warrantee with any upgrade at a dealership because it technically voids emissions in California and other states as well. (I am not going to argue about what is legal and what is not in California.)

But the good news is, the individual dealerships that we called in California said that they will honor the warrantee. That is just their word, so take it for what it is!

You are probably correct, I was told by a dealer they would warranty it. I guess you would need to get it in writing.

Neither. At least until they give you the option of deleting the church pew wings on the back. Make mine wingless and then it might make a fun daily driver.

Give me a TTA, a TA49 and $2K in mods and dudes going to be seeing tailights.

Right, and you would have a 13 year old car. This whole "Gimme some $$$ and I'd make my GN run 11's" is getting real old.

Umm... dude has a $50K Sh!tbox that runs mid 11's with no warranty.

Paying $35K for a Sh!tbox no matter how high tech, then dumping another $15K in mods, THEN taking it to the drag strip to show everybody HOW FAST IT IS is F'n dumb.

I guess idiots have to have heros, too.

It's not about the car, its about the speed. Why spend $50K on a drag car when you can go as fast for $12K? Because you can is a pretty dumb answer.

So is the comparison between a 2003 model year to a muscle car of the 1980's/70's and 60's too.
IMO

Evo! too much though, get an 89 turbo colt and put a 2.0 turbo motor in it like I did.:D

Let's see, which one would I want? A Piecachitsi or a Scoobydoo? I know, I will wait until the new '05 Mustangs come out or the new GTO. See, I believe a car should also have some heart and soul, something the Japanese can't seem to come to grips with. Rice for me? No way, give me some meat and potatoes. Mark :D

p.s. It isn't all about numbers, it's more to do with the sense of driving.

Really, I thought this thread was about cars, the STI and EVO. When and if you ever drive an AWD "performance car", come back and talk to me. An STI with aftermarket exhaust and a eprom flash will run 12.70's @ 110, on PUMP GAS and STREET TIRES.....and corner and brake like a Porshe.

You're preaching to the chior when you sing the praises of the TR, I know, I know. My Buick ran 11.08 @ 121 with a reasonably conservative tune. Just know that the little huffed Ricers are pretty amazing cars, and they are not going to go away.

Exactly.

Although I like the WRX and EVO very much, I'd have a hard time paying 30k for one when I could get relatively comparable performance from the SRT-4 at about 20k. Yes, I'm cheap, that's why I drive a 5k Buick. :D

And they cost almost as much as a Boxster too. I have driven quite a few performance front, rear, and all wheel drive vehicles. Just as in 4X4 trucks, only about 5% of the owners will ever realize the capability of the vehicle. Been there, done that. Just can't justify spending way over $30k for an econo box of any kind.

There's a brand-new red Evo outside in the parking lot at work right now. I don't know who belongs to it, but you can bet I spent a few minutes gaping at it. 30 grand for a car that does all that? You can't beat that with a stick. Actually, the only way to make it better would be to make a wagon version.;)
