For an otherwise stock GN tranny with CK's kit already installed would changing to the kit's stiffer 1-2 accumulator spring further firm up the 1-2 shift at wot?

I would rec a CK servo if you are still running a stock servo. Changing the spring itself wouldnt do much. If its lazy at WOT then the band/drum may be hurt

Bison, it's not lazy, actually shifts snug with a light chirp. The thing is, I want it to bark 2nd with authority but, only when my foot is down, not under normal driving conditions. My servo is stock and I have been looking into the servo. Other than installing the CK kit in mine, I'm not very familiar with the 200. Am I correct in thinking I can do the servo with tranny in the car (test pipe in place of cat) and without dropping the pan? I know all cars are different but I can't understand why my brother-in-law's very stock 87, original stock unopened tranny will bark or break loose on the 1-2 shift from when he bought it new until now with 105k on it and mine won't, even though my car is faster and seems to shift firmer. Riding in the back seat of his car with 4 other adults, plus 75lbs of stereo equipment plus an extra battery in the trunk of that car 22 years ago and that thing still stepping out on the 1-2 shift is what hooked me for life on these cars. I know it's kinda juvenile and not productive but I want my car to do that. Thanks, Jesse.

I have over 700 ft lbs of torque at the flywheel and i dont get a bark or chirp and i just tore into the trans and the band/drum looks like it did when i installed them. My data logs indicate that the trans is shifting very fast because the shift is complete in 2-3 frames at WOT. It feels very solid. I have a red alto wide band and a CK servo and was running a .500 boost valve for about 240-250 line pressure. If i tried to put on different non drag radial tires that might chirp i would blow them away till i hit about 80mph. Maybe your brother in law has some cheap tires that make a lot of noise on ratio changes. The servo is easy to change without pulling the trans

You could block the 1-2 accu. hole and put in a CK servo it should give you the hard shifts your looking for.

Stock stall? a looser stall will absorb some of that tire barking shift.

He must just have a freak tranny that hits everything just right for it to be able to do that. It did it when the car was brand new, it does it today 105k miles later and he can't remember if the fluids even ever been changed in it. It did it with Eagle GTs, Eagle VR 245s, Yoko's, Dunlops, every tire it's ever had it will bark or spin 2nd. Always street or handling tires though, never had a drag tire on it.
