I bought a 1985 Olds 442 off of a buddy of mine for $300.

It looks like it was fished out of the sea. It is pretty rough. I couldn't even part it out if I wanted to. Seats, center console and door panels look like ass.

I got it becuase I love g-bodies.

I want to keep it and restore it as best I can. The motor only has $5K miles on the rebuild. It has the 307HO (hardly output) motor, edelbrock intake and carb, MSD ignition, 200r4 tranny that was rebuilt about 10K miles ago, ceramic coated headers.

16" IROC rims and new tires.

It is white with grey interior. Factory astro roof.

I will get pics up ASAP.

One question I have is seat covers. Do they sell seat covers for these cars that don't look like ass? I don't want to pay big $$$ for OEM covers. I would like something that is quick and easy, but doesn't look cheap.

TIA!

I have always been a fan of those cars.

Looks like you have your work cut-out for you. (Pun intended).... ;) :D

OMG!!! What is all over the interior sheet metal? Looks like a brush on somethingorother coating. I am SO glad my wife's 86 442 was better taken care of than that. All it needs is paint.

Sound deadening material. I am sure it adds big weight to the car.

how the heck did you get rust in the front of the drip rails???? that area is supposed to drain pretty well.

I saw one recently at a cruise night. It was an 80 something white 442 with t-tops, burgundy interior and the "Hurst Olds" shifter. I think it's awesome how these G-body cars are staring to show up at car shows. Good luck with the restoration.

ive got a 86 442 and i baught my fiance a 87 442, she was hit HARD and my bodyshop at the dealer where i work estimated 2800 bucks. i expect to spend probably 3500 to put it back togeather once its over with, all this for a car with something like 200k miles. i know its stupid as hell repairing it but shes had a hard time with her faimly in the last 3 years and this is one of the first things ive seen her happy about for a long time so if ive got to pay 10 grand to fix it ill do it. if she wrecks it again ill ring her neck.

Do you know if the grey interior is the same color on the 85's as it is on the 86's?

I have an 85 and I am looking at buying the door panels from an 86.

not sure, hers is blue and mine is burgundy. i would assume so but i dont know.
