my converter has 13.69% slippage its an ebay 9.5 inch with lockup. i need to reduce the slippage and want to know what companies can do this with another company's converter. i was thinking ati, but i don't know. i want a quality converter, i don't want to skimp. im running 12.11 @ 108.77 mph in my 68 chevelle street car with a pump gas 327. it should be running about 11.70 with a mph around 112 113ish.

what company's can do this and build a quality converter? remember, i need to retain the lockup feature as i do drive this car frequently. thanks for your time.

just put that one back up on ebay and buy a

PTC converter from dusty

lots of converter company's can get this done. Lock-ups are a little harder than the non-locks

can companies make me an 8 inch 3500-4000 lockup for the 200? i'd like to make it as efficient as possible.

The smaller the convertor and retaining L/U makes it harder for good slip % un locked.

If you wnat a 8 or 9 " then go L/U IMO

i don't get what you are trying to say. i don't race in lock up if that's what you mean. i just want to make sure i can flip my switch on the highway for mpg cruising.

I bought a converter from Dusty about 2 months ago that's a non-lock and I still haven't put it in my car yet. I'm not knocking him or the converter, I just hate to get rid of the lock-up feature. However, I am willing to try a non lock-up just to see if it will improve perfomance. From my understanding, nobody can make a lock up converter for a 200-4R that can have very little slippage and still retain the lock-up feature.

I would not agree. You can get a lock-up that has a reasonable slip % un-locked. The question is whats acceptable? If you can live with 8-10% it can be done. If you want 8% or less that also can be done at a loss of flash stall.
If you want to squeeze every percent out of the converter and get example 6% or less and have enough stall to get the car on the pipe. You would probably need a Non-lock up.

I can live with 8 to 10% since mine is currently slipping at 20+% according to on-line calculators and using XFI data logs. Who makes such a converter that can withstand 700 HP?

20% is crazy slippage. Lock-ups Vigilante, Pro Edge, PTC, TCS to name a few.

Evidently my engine is making crazy power:rolleyes: because I have tried a Vig 3600, 3400, 3200 and finally took a big leap down to a 2800 stall with a DBB70GTQ with a .85 hsg and none of them got the RPM's down at the high end....unlocked. I'm going to try Dusty's non-lock and if that doesn't bring the rpms down then it would seem that nothing will.

BTW, my data logs show I can get to 110mph unlocked at 6000 rpms in 3d gear and with the converter locked, the logs show I can get 138mph.

im getting the same #'s as well. about 21% unlocked on my converter. im going to try locking it this year. we will see what happens. wonder how much it will bring it down?

Take a look at the MPH and the RPM's on my data logs and you will see how much faster you can go with it locked up! This is in 3rd gear...unlocked and then locked...
