I put my car up on jacks and messed around with the TV cable in about 10 different positions because I am only getting one shift out of it at different speeds.
Then I disconnected the shift linkage and shifted by hand 1-2-D-OD by moving the lever on the tranny. Since my car was originally a three speed, I couldn't shift the tranny to 1 manually from within the car so that's why I disconnected the linkage and crawled under the car. Interesting enough, the tires would stop moving when I put it in 1. I could push the gas pedal and make them move but it felt like I had the brake held. I couldn't hear any grinding noises or anything else when it was in 1 though. So all along I haven't even had a 1rst gear. No wonder my take offs were so sluggish.
And another note: This tranny, out of an 85 GN, was sitting for a couple of years but I opened it up and installed a B&M shift improver kit. While I was in there I also found a broken accumulator spring so I replaced that as well.
So any ideas why gear 1 would be locked up and why it never shifts into OD?
Thanks,
MARK
