I was thinking of putting one in my 81 Chevy 3/4 ton with Pontiac 400 and4.10 gears. Would be pulling a a 16 foot trailor with 4100 pound car. I know you don't tow in overdrive. Looking to agin a few more mpg and reduce engine rpm. Anyone with experiance towing with one?
Would a 200R4 hold up?

Thanks,
Eric

Should be fine there is a guy on another board towing his race car with a 200-4r in an Elcamino.

Run a large external cooler and dont tow in 3rd and 4th with the torque converter unlocked for extended periods. I would go with more gear if you plan on towing a 4100 lb car and a trailer. 4.10 is not anywhere near enough gear. Engine will lug in 3rd and 4th and be searching for a gear constantly on small grades.

Should work good for towing in 3rd & normal driving 4th assuming about a 30" tire.

Tires are 265/75-16. I don't have a 200r4 yet, just looking at options, plus seeing what some of the times people here are with them.

4.10 gears

with OD will equal 2.87 final gearing, you'll need a alot of low end torque to pull that, I doubt you can tow anything other than flat ground, in OD,
you'll need a trans temp gauge, and BIG trans cooler.
