Hey all... i got the minitub done and got the 325's on. Now i need some opinions on what i tire i should run up front. Just to get a baseline the tires I have on in the pictures are 215/60's i stole from my other car. I kinda think the front needs to come down a little, but i don't lwant the ass end sticking sky high either....i have a 245/60 i could put on there and see what that looks like, but its only marginally larger....

The car is parked on an ever so slight incline....the car sits pretty level actually (without the slight incline)

forgot the pics...

thanks for the replies...you guys thinking about sticking with that same size tire if I drop drop 1" to 2"?

Thanks,
Nate

if your running 15's
the 215 60 is 24" ish tire, a 215 65 will be approx 25.5, drop the car and go with a 26" tire. i have 205-70 which i have on a skinny rims.
you could go 235-60

Bring it down about 2" all around. :)
Any pics of the car from behind etc? Would love to see how the tires look.

Thanks for the feed back... i just measured the ride height this morning...fromt my "rough" concrete floor to the top of the wheel arch...

Driver Front: 27 1/8" Passenger Front: 27 1/2"
Driver Rear: 28 3/8"" Passenger Rear: 28 1/2"

I put new moog springs in it when i rebuilt it a few years ago, but can't for the life of me remember what which springs they were.

So maybe do a 26" tire up front....(235/60) and drop it 2" in front?

I haven't driven the car yet with the tires, so I am not sure how much lower i can take the rear without rubbing....but i probably have some wiggle room...

ahh just found an old thread of mine...looks like i have (5660 in the front, and CC651 in the rear).

i'll have to do some more homework, but with a 5 min search, it looks like the 5658's for the front and 5413's for the rear are a popular combo...

Thanks,
Nate

You'll hook better if you don't drop the front. However, for asthetics I would drop the front an inch and a half and go with a slightly taller tire.

How would I get more than an 1" of drop (with just springs)? I see the 5658 springs are supposed to drop it 1" and the fancy springs maybe and 1.5". Are there moog springs that will drop it more that i haven't found? I am kinda leaning towards popping in some 5658's in there with a 26" tire...I am gonna put on my 245/60's i have up front to see what looks like in terms of tire dia.

Thanks!
Nate

26 in the front, 28 in the back...same thing I did...I've got an Eibach Prokit all around...look at the pics in my sig from the caraudio mag shoot.

Thanks for the pics....car looks real good with the 26/28 combo...i think it'll give it a shot!

Thanks
Nate

215/65 is the stock tire size and IMO the best front tire size with stock sized wheels.

But what size front wheels are you going to go with??

The billet specialities rims for the front is 15x7 with a 3.5" backspace...I was actually considering doing the 215/65. BFG Radial TA come in a 215/65 and that will put me at 26".

Nate, don't lower it!...Leave it like that!...It looks agressive the way it is right now! :) I dunno why, but a lot of guys nowadays are swearing by the "lowered" look, with the wheels tucked in the fenders like "lowriders", like if the wheels were going to rub at the slightest bump in the pavement... That is ok for a '50 Mercury, but definitely not for a GN...:frown:
As for your Billet Specialties wheels, I have the same as yours for the front (15"x7" with a rear spacing of 3.5") with some "stock size" 215-65-15 tires (26" high) and the rears are 15"x10" (4.5" rear spacing) with 275-60-15 tires (28" high). I just wish I had mini-tubs like you so I could use 325's!...

Claude.

P.S: Your car looks great with the "WH1" paint scheme!

49-blues...tokicos...great for street driving but I don't know about the track until this fall and I get some more time with it.

Claude, thanks for the compliments....I may stick the 215/65's on there and drive it for a bit and see what i think....granted the lower springs will hurt the launch in the 1/4 mile.

you may get a kick out of the center's i have on the rims....i millled down the center you get with the rim with a lathe, and i got the inlay from Mark H. (t'buick regal customs)
