66, 67mm 3 bolt turbos

Let's do a comparison between say..... TE45A, 6776E and Turbonetics 66.

I've ran 126mph with a T63e and then the blades got chewed up. Had it rebuilt into a TE45A but never got to run it and sold it.

What's your experience with the above listed turbos.

I have gone 126 at 3700lbs with a 63 on a stock longblock. I do not think the turbo was maxed out yet. But I never pushed it any further since I already pushed it pretty far.

Watch what you buy. there is quite a bit of difference the GTQ/HPQ/S turbos vs what you mentioned. T-netics doesnt do a good job of marketing their turbos for these cars. They could probably care less since its a niche market. I would go to the big ex wheel and get the correct converter. You wont see any difference between the ones you mentioned if they are all 76 trim ex. Thats the old p trim wheel. They have been superceded by the 65 trim which is supposed to reduce backpressure. Id like to see a test on that myself though. I havent really anyone run anything spectacular with a 65 trim wheel with a Buick yet. It should be int he 9's by now but havent seen it. There is no doubt about the correct combo with the big wheel though. The compressor is not the limitation in the 3 bolt configuation.

He's saying that when it comes to 3 bolt turbos, the hot side is the limiting factor. Back pressure is the killer.

i noticed a huge difference between the p/65 wheel and the s/q wheel.leaving the potential power aside you must have a right converter with the s/trim.the s/trim 9 times out of 10 runs the .85 presicion ex housing,while if your alittle tight on the converter with the p/trim you can run the smaller ex housing t/netics .63.presicion .63 etc.both t/netics and presicion don't recommend the .63 housings on the s/q trim wheels.

Thats what im looking to see is the actual backpressure difference. Im thinking its a lot more than people think and the ratings on the large wheel stuff are too low. If you have an 18 blade PTC 9.5" and a BB cartridge and have it cranked up it wont really matter what 3 bolt wheel/ housing you have. It will spool them all well and still not be loose up top.

bison i will take your word for it on the ptc spooling up the s-trim .85.i know my 10.5 lock up 3200 doesn't even come close to spooling it but i am going to try the 9.5.i had no problems with the p-trim,lightning fast with the .63 ex housing,still quick with the .82,but the s-trim seems to be a hole different animal.

If its a journal you will need something that goes to 3800 at zero boost/vacuum. A commercially available 10.5" will not couple an S trim under anywhere near its power potential
