I resently purchased 87 GN loaded with goodies and plan
on adding more.
I would like some opinions on the turbo that is on the car.
PN# 600-1550 this is the jrnl brg "Boosted" THB-3-76

It seems everbody has or is moving to the BB version
This turbo seems killer enough. Is there a down side to
this turbo compared to the BB and what does the "Boosted"
do or add?

Thanks
Been reading/lurking for months
You will be hearing more from me.

As far as I knew, "boosted" meant the turbo had a huge 6" inlet bell and wouldn't fit in the stock turbo location on a Buick...

Thats what I keep reading, but that is the part# on
the sticker on the turbo.

Thanks
Ron

I have the exact same turbo with the exception that mine is BB.
THB3-76 , 6776RH. 4" inlet, 3" outlet, "R" being the BB version.
The "HB" version has the pressed on 6" inlet bell. Not sure what the "boosted" part represents, might get RUQWKNF to chime in.

?

The #600-1550 that was on the turbo = Jrnl Brg Boosted
on the Precision web site.
I'm just trying to figure out if this is a BB or Jrnl or they just put the wrong
PN on it. Everywhere I look this PN says its boosted.
I've read all the above info twice.

Thanks

600-1550 is a jouranl bearing turbo. 600-1551 is the ball bearing version. Boosted is the name of the new technology parts that PTE has brought to the market, Turbine housings, compressor covers, compresor and turbine wheels. Since they are beginning to make more and more of their own design components they named them. That is "boosted"

BB has faster spool up but needs a water line kit. Jrnl bearing works good but needs more stall

Thank you
This is the info I was looking for
By the way, I will be a new customer.

Spools pretty fast, I've only owned the car about 2 months,Still getting
use to it.

Vigilante 0 pump, seems to be about 3200. I will know more this spring
when I can get some more passes in it.

Right now it feels like a great combo. Mid 10s and better to come
