With the rash of threads about cam problems I thought it might be nice to hear from some people that have NOT had problems. For all the cams we have sold we sure did not get many back this year. So, if you have had a good result from a cam install (from us or anyone else) please post the cam brand, the grind and the number of miles currently.

Precision hydraulic billet roller 210/210. Been in use since the end of 2001. Roughly 16500 miles on it, and >50 passes down the 1/4 mile. No problems at all. No weird noises, nuthin. Just plenty of power. Passed emissions in Texas and Colorado (dyno tested emissions to 60 mph).

Crane 214/210 billet roller, motor went together in 2002 and so far about 30K miles and 450+ passes with no issues :)

Thats one bad thing about buying a car that was built by someone who is not available to reach these days. Whatever it is in my engine, works great. I was told it has a small cam, but I was also told it had ported heads  Ive put over 20,000 miles on the car since january, and the cam looks great. When I had the intake off, I looked at all the lobes and checked for slop in all the pushrods. Everything is great.....the engine was supposedly rebuilt 4000 miles before I bought it, but I see alot of things that make me think thats BS. Probably just a quick ring and bearing job. Ive changed the oil twice since I got it (shame on me)....damn I didnt even think of that. **** I gotta change that oil this weekend! Anyway, with that kind of oil changing schedule, Im surprised that the cam is in such good shape.

Comp Cams Ductile Roller 210/210, also running Comp Cams 885 roller lifters, HS 1.65 roller rockers and Comp Cams 918 beehives. I built the motor over this last year by myself and was the first motor I've ever done from the ground up. Currently has @ 1400 miles on it. At 878 miles I took it to the track and ran a best of 10.87 @ 124mph with alot left in it. Should go 10.20ish when all is said and done. I bought the cam brand new off Ebay last November and the correct timing chain for $168 also bought a set of 16 Comp Cams 885 roller lifters off Ebay for $100 :) Here's the cam card with 1.65 roller rockers:

Full Throttle/Comp Cams 210/215 Revolution X hydraulic roller kit. Of course I've had good luck with this cam. It's a roller. I'll never buy a flat tappet cam again. It has the slightest hint of a not stock idle. With my 67 turbo,Extender chip, and 60 lbs. injectors, the driveability and performance of my car is at an all time high.

Great thread idea.

The recent posts regarding cam problems have all been flat tappet set-ups.
At the time of this post, only 29% of the responses involve flat tappet set-ups. Most "good experience" respondents have "roller set-ups" and we know there are no issues with that set-up. Maybe you wanted to get an idea of postive experiences of as related to "flat tappet" set-ups?

204/214 with over 15,000 miles on it, still looks perfect, quiet and seems to pull pretty good. we also just installed one in my dads new motor and have not had any problems at all, but it only has about 1500 miles on the new setup.

the roller has been in the engine and started a few times maybe 10 miles - know that is not what you were really looking for

I did not return the 224/224 to you as I have a hard time believing that you or the mfr had anything to do with the one and only and same lobe that seems to give many of us trouble

JDSfastGN: Is your 204/214 a Comp cam, edelbrock, etc? I saw above ttype is running a comp version, was curious what manufacturer yours was, since I am getting ready to fire the new motor with a 204/214 Edelbrock.

I have had my share of cam nightmares, so I installed a very mild custom ductile roller ("Baby Roller"). The car is absolutely fantastic with the Translator Pro, wideband, and boost control.

i have ramchargers 206/206 cam installed and so far after a couple thousand miles have no problems. i know there out of buisness but somebody made that cam for them right? maybe theres not enough mileage on it yet to be sure its good. well see. :D

off the shelf comp 218.

installed in 1998 with many many low 10 high 9 sec passes.

about 8k mi on it. but the performance is improving every time i take it out.

I too like the idea of running the 14 bolt version heads, only using 8 of them and running chevy style rockers. You get these from champion, they call them 'Scorpion style"

FYI I have used the comp cams 204/214, Edelbrock 204/214, and the speed pro 204/214 granated there not all my cars but I haven done the installs on them none have had issues of any kind  I think if you take your time and make sure everythings correct youll be okay

I guess I am looking more for flat tappet stories since we know the rollers usually do not fail.

mine were both speedpro/sealed power. The edlebrock is the same exact cam from my understanding, they just sell it under that name. I honestly didn't know comp even made a 204/214 as usually they are split duration 206 or 212 type durations. I love mine and recomend this cam for most any car running 11.00s or slower

I wonder if there are any of the econo rollers still going.

I'm sure Mike was referring to either billit or ductile :) But I've seen pics of a couple that had been made into lamps :D
