Amazing Waste of $$

I know of this guy locally to me who bought a 71 duster.
It is a track only car!
The guy has 30k into it & it runs 12:40's in 1/4.

That is an amazing waste of Money!

I have seen countless folks here spend much less
with a TR & get equal or better results.

Anybody have an amazing waste of $$ car story

Waste of money to you is perhaps a good deal to him.

'Specially if he makes $200K-300K a year.

Guy up here with a home built 340 and '68 Barracuda runs the same times with way less $$$ into it. Runs it at LVD Wed. nights.

Plus he daily drives it in the summer.

Runs a Sunoco station in Cheshire where I get gas often.

Very nice red car, worth dropping a 3.8 into also.

Waste of money would be a Ford product.

that is ok.. my coworker today bought a 03 caviler last week, he told me it was fast. i looked at him and said they are peppy 4 bangers. he then says its an experimental eco tech motor! he is gunna write his own tuning software, and get it in to the 12s! i laugh and said good luck its easier said then done. he said oh its easy. it will not cost that much.......
i ended it there before i got irritated at him and turned in to a dlck

i hate stoooopid people!

It's all in where you spend your money and what you want to do with your money. I'd bet good money that lots of sb chevy guys laugh at TR owners because of the money we spend to go fast. Granted, It's not as big of a difference as putting 30k into a duster BUT it is the same principle. Was the duster done up with fancy paint, sheetmetal interior, detailed parts and pieces? That adds up in a hurry. You could spend 30k on a TR that only goes 12's if you wanted to.

I was talking to my friend about how I was selling my TTA and buying a 99 Trans Am when her boyfriend comes over and says

"oh what are you buying???"
Im like "a 99 Trans Am.."
"Oh yeah you should buy my car!!"
"What do you have???" (figuring maybe he has a Camaro or a Mustang or something)
"a New Toyota Solara, Its quicker!"

"yeah"
"Than a Trans Am that has 305 HP stock???"
"um... oh....."
"and the one I have now is about 400 or so...."
"oh..."

yeah that shut him up fast....
