Is there any advantage to use race gas an Alky? Can you run more boost than you could with just 93?

Makes tuning somewhat easier as you have octane. And doesnt need as much alcohol to control the knock.

On a new combo getting figured out.. absolutely. Once figured out.. then it adds a level of insurance while racing.

Hope this answers your question..

110 and alky is the way to go at the track. i would rather have the cushin. 110+ alky at 28psi is going to be safer then 91+ alky at the same boost level. i use alky just to cool the air charge not to help in octane levels.

I assume you would run more timing for the higher octane race gas and just less alky?

Usually alky likes less timing than race gas combos would, if you keep it that way you probably would slow down..

Am I on the right track?? :)

Thx

I started spiking my 93 with 110 just to make sure motor #3 lasts longer then rebuild #2 on my street setup. :(

110 and alky would make an awesome track combo and 110 is WAY cheaper than C16 around here. I made a chip just for this alky/110 combo. :D

Alky too likes lots of timing. But the more timing you run, the sharper the knife is analogy.. especially with a street car that fuels can be from different sources.. so the deal to keep the timing down is to keep the motors/tune safer.

Dont think the 109 cars running high 9's/low 10's on 93 octane run low timing.

HTH

I want to use the meth for the cooling benefit and to have the greatest window for safety. But I heard that running race gas and meth could slow the burn down from having too much octane? So is running for example VP C16 too much or should I run something a little less? What leaded race gas would you recomend from either Torco or VP?

this is for white t's quote of running lower timing and alky!!!!!!! my car ran leaner 770 o2's on 23/21 timing and 25 psi of boost with just 93 and alky. and 820's with 28/24 timing and 25 psi of boost and 93. go figure!!!!!. maybe the egts' were higher with the lower timing ????

You really need a wideband to get accurate a/f's. Adding timing in most instances raises the mv though. I dont like guessing on the O2 numbers. Widebands are very cheap these days.

will in the spring i just thought it was amazing on pump gas

I always thought more timing would make the egts' run hotter, now I am confused.
