Otto all I have is the last final round, Not the one with the controversy. Sorry.

Don's big wheelie pass got screwed up (AND THAT SUCKS!) my thumb hit the damn record button causing it to go "stand by"

But I got the beginning of it.

Congrats on the win Sully.

Well done to Dick K and Don. I knew we would see an 8 second pass after the 9.02 and 9.00 pass. Guess we'll have to wait for next year.

I only made 3 passes. I saw no reason to back the car down to get down to get the info I needed. 1st pass was the same tune-up as the 5.01 at Bradenton but I had an extra 3# of boost. 60ft was the same 1.32, the 330 was 3#'s better than Bradenton at 3.32. The car didn't like the transition around 450-500 feet and it lost traction somewhere around there. Still went 5.02 at 139. As the day went on the track got worse and I never made it down again. It didn't have enough bite after 60 feet. We went to have a good time and that's what we did:biggrin: Good seeing everybody.

Jason, it was good to meet you man...thanks for the pics. Turns out that I lost second gear early Saturday. That would explain my slowness..go figure.

Here is my update from the weekend as I finally recover from the 13.5 hour drive home.

We got to the track Friday before noon. Our first pass off the trailer was a 9.46. The AMS 1000 is working fantastically. The car left really nice with a small wheelie. (Cal Have I mentioned I love this boost controller?) I was thinking this was going to be a good weekend. Things were real relaxed and Cal had time to work on the XFI for me. He made some serious improvements in the amount of time it takes for the car to come up on the pipe. As things turned out we only got to make two passes at silver dollar race way. The car hooked hard and Toni blew the ring and pinion up in the rear end. I wanted to puke as the sound of metal exploding and grinding bounced off my ears.

We got the car back to the trailer. Next Cal Hartline tells me he has a set of gears in his trailer. Dick Kerney has all the tools to set the rear end up in his trailer. Dick tells me to bring my car around to his trailer and he will move his car out of the way. Then Otto and James Lester (Dick Kerney’s trunk monkey) start tearing into it. Everything is happening so fast, next thing I know Otto has the new ring & pinion set up. I learned some tricks to getting a pinion bearing off. We tore the pinion seal, but I was at Napa in the morning right when they opened and they had it!!

Now I realize why every one says Dick is a great guy. He made everything in his trailer available to me. Kerney probably has no idea how much I appreciate him doing that for me.

I need to thank James and Otto for helping me. When the weather was getting cold and everyone else was drinking and mawing down steaks, these guys were busting there ass on my wife’s car. Also thanks to Cal for hooking me up with a gear set. This kept my hopes alive that we would get to run in the morning. Cal let me know how much money I owe you for the gears.

Sam you and Toni are also class acts. Thank you again for offering your driveshaft after I broke mine. Sorry if I didn't get a chance to catch up with you guys a bit more. I was so exhausted from our efforts to even get down there that once my car was broke I just wanted to pass out. lol.

Your welcome Sam,I wish the trans would have been ok.
Anytime you guys need help and I am there don't hesitate, well i guess
it doesnt matter if you hesitate cause Cal will volunteer me anyway:biggrin:

Dick, Cal and James are great people. Over the years, each of them have helped me out way too many times to count!

Oh ya, Otto's ok too

It took alot of arm twisting to get Sam down ;) Thanks for coming, we really enjoyed having you, Toni and Jason (aka the Bear) around for the festivities!

You guys are truly some of the best the Buick community has to offer! It was great watching everyone come together to help out and try to get your car back running.

I would also like to echo your sentiments about Dick Kereny, he is a class act all the way!!! Rarely has my life been so blessed as to have the privledge to be associated with people of his caliber. His entire crew, Jan, James, Mike and of course Mrs Julie are all first class folks.

Thanks to Adam for Dinner late Saturday night. Jason M and I had two each. We just couldn’t believe how good they were, but by eating a second one we were able to confirm that you are a hellava grill man. We stopped for dinner on the way home and I told Jason there is no way I could eat another steak for about a week.

I was up since Thursday morning and when I went to sleep late Friday night I crashed hard. Thanks again Adam for setting up accommodations for my whole crew. That place worked out great.

Saturday rolls around and we finish up the car only to learn the trans was killed. Qualifying begins. Don Cruz goes up as Dick Kerney waits. Cruz runs a 9.02 and you hear everyone saying Awwww. Now Dick Kerney who wants his record back in the worst way pulls up to the line. He just watched Don rocket down the track. I bet he was feeling the pressure. Dick pulls up to the stage bulbs and when he lets it rip the flowmaster mufflers were breathing loud. The board pops up a 9 and the crowd sighs as the .00 numbers light up. I could not believe that the 8 second barrier was not conquered.

I hope that when I turn 65, I can still drive a race car. That night Dick boiled up some fish, and fed all of us. My wife enjoyed spending time with his wife Julie. Later that night Kerney tells me how much respect he has for Don Cruz. The comrade in this Buick family really makes us all bond together.

Cal and Holly Hartline made sure Toni and I had a great time. (Cal Have I mentioned I love the AMS 1000 boost controller?) We enjoyed hanging out with everyone in this party like atmosphere. Even though our car broke we had a blast. I definitely hope we can make it back next year.
