I need some measurements on overall outside dimensions. If you can and will help me with this, e-mail or PM me. Motor needs to be complete, just like it is when it's sitting in the car (minus DP is O.K.)

Thanks,
Richard

got one

I have one complete minus headers and belt driven accesories. What measurements are you looking for exactly? I can get them to first thing in the morning.

i have one doghouse to pan, waterpump to back of the block...

no headers...

LMK if Nasty cant help ya...

Hell does have the headers and waterpump on it , just no downpipe. I'm at work and I won't get home till 7:30 8ish in the morn so post what you need and I'll check it out.

Thanks to all who replied. I was gonna do this by private e-mail but someone else doing a transplant may need this too.

Since 1Grand86 and Nasty Wendy have the most complete motors, I'll ask them. What I need is the following:

length overall

width at widest point (presumably at the turbo)

Overall height would be good too.

Doesn't have to be exact just as close as you can obtain w/o too much trouble. Please describe where you took the measurements.

Thanks again

OK here is what I got.

From the little shaft that sticks out of the water pump (most forward part) to the back of the block 25"

From the top of the vacuum block to the drain plug in the oil pan 28"

From the outside edge of the heatshield on the Driver's side header to the outside edge of the turbo elbow 30"

Holy chit thats 21,000 cubic inches!!! No wonder these cars haul azz

;)

don't tell anyone....let them keep thinking its 231 cubic inches:D

I used a 5foot aluminum straight edge and a level to get these measurements.....they should be really close but prolly not perfect.

no sweat. If you want to return the favor just pray for me that it doesn't rain over here so I can go to the track tonight

;)

Can any of you take pics?

Do you have a digital cam? If so, could you take some pics of your motor and e-mail them to me?

I need straight-on shots not the "artsy" front 3/4 shots I find on the 'net.

Left side - straight on at eye level
Right side - ditto
front - ditto
Looking straight down at the motor if you can get above it.

Thanks in advance,

Richard, I have the motor out of the silver car right now. I can take some pics for you tomarrow when I go back out to the shop.
It does not have the upper plenum or turbo on it, but other than that it is complete.

Me don't dink dats da way dat woiks. :) (No, that's not German).

I am assuming this is for some sort of transplant or hybrid. I was looking at these measurements and thinking that I hope you leave yourself plenty of height clearance. Don't forget when these engines are sitting in the engine bay they are usually on a slight angle. The throttle body and up pipe from the IC are usually the higher points. Also, don't forget about that alternator sitting so sky high. Just a thought.. if I'm wrong about what your doing, please ignore.

I can get some pics for you by tuesday night... If you can wait till then, I'll send you the 4 shots you need plus a few others...

Thanks Bubba and 1Grand86. No problem on waiting for the pics.
You're right Chris about the transplant but my '36 has plenty of room verically just no width in cars of the '30's as they "pinch" toward the front.

Thanks to all who've replied.
Richard

i sent you some

Richard, sorry for the delay. I just sent you 5 pics in the detail you asked for. Let me know if you get them.
Thanks
