hay guys,

i know a couple of guys here that have the 70mmDUAL BB turbo Q-trim on mine. and i was wondering can it go 9's i won't be able to sww the track till november it's 90deggree here at 7pm  , not worth running in such high heat, my car will have aluminum gn-1 heads, scorpion rockers (? dam they look good to ) 70 mm tb, 83 lb injectors dual in tank fuel pump etc etc..

the car is set-up correctly, i just have'nt seen any times on this bb unit, should i have gone with a 76?

Definitely possible with the right tune. Is it a 4 bolt? If so it would be even easier. This is assuming that your suspension can handle it. Might be easier to dial in the suspension with a closed loop wastegate system. This way you can control the hit on the tires when that thing spools up. Id say go to a 4 bolt setup with the 70 if you havent already rather than throwing a 76 on being choked on the exhaust side like you already are if you have a 3 bolt housing. You would be better off with a cam in the 218/218 range if not already and race ported heads also before you go to a 76. The 76 would be better off with even more cam yet, but would require a solid roller setup to be able to spin it up to get max potential with the 76 on a 231ci engine with the parts i mentioned. You will need some billet trans internals and you will probably need a converter adjustment.

4 bolt

i was on the fence about this but i decided to go 4 bolt. the 4 bolt will flow like crazy. i agree with Bison if you are thinking of going to a 76 a 4 bolt setup is a no brainer especially if you don't have any rules. i can't wait to get mine done. i am going from a te44 to a 4 bolt 70:biggrin: hth.....Bob

Dp

there is a thread in the parts forsale section SS 3.5 and 4in downpipes (user Marvin's GN) that is going to make some but for the most part it has to be custom fabricated. i going another route. i am buying a 3.5in dp internal wastegate. i am going to cut off the flange and have 4" piece welded in for the v band housing. that's the plan anyway:smile: i just bought me a new tig welder so i am itching to use it. i figured it would be easier for me to buy one already bent for the most part and replace the top part. hth....Bob

yep on the converter, reading all of this shows me how much more i need to learn

What are you doing for a downpipe with a 4 bolt turbo?

We are having them fabbed which is a small expense to power gain when looked at vs. other things most would do before the 4 bolt conversion. At this point im convinced if all the guys running 3 bolts on their 600+hp setups switched to even a .69 4 bolt (assuming they already have a .85 GTQ) they would gain at least 20hp and probably closer to 30hp just from the housing change. Even more with a .81 or larger 4 bolt housing.

Can you still run the AC and full heater box with the downpipes you are having made for the 4 bolt turbo? What Headers?

Great 411 bison. 1 ? Do these 4 bolt turbos have the same oem 4 bolt pattern on the side that the DP bolts to ??? I was wondering if I could use my THDP ???? Thanks.

Yes and any headers if the pipe is fabbed for use with them. With a 4" pipe it will need to be oval shaped in the area where it clears the heater box. This wont restrict it any. I am using ATR headers.

Actually they are tangential housings and use a v-band clamp to hold the pipe on. You could possibly cut your existing dp and fab the bend coming off the turbo and attach it to your pipe but if you run most aftemarket headers with a seperate tube form the crossover that connects at the 4 bolt flange the pipe wont fit easy. Id think that even if you kept the stock headers and converted the flange to a 4-bolt you would still realize most of the gains. Then you could easily chop your existing pipe and fab on a new section. You will have to run an external gate also. You could easily sell your THDP for nearly what you paid for it anyway if you had to Which is what i will do when both of my cars are converted.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that is willing to take a chance an do what the vendors will not do. Have you thought about makeing more like I am? If so I can turn you in the right direction to get the stainless pipe. Marvin.
