What are the best brake pads overall for the GN? I was looking at either the Raybestos Quiet stop pads or the Satisfied pro pads from tire rack. Any ideas? I have the raybestos Quiet stops pads on my Z24, they work well. Any of the other Raybestos stuff is quite often junk.

Try performance friction, about $20. per side, no dust, no noise and good stopping.

I have been using perf friction too(from autozone. LIFETIME waranty)in my everyday driver and love em. In fact, Im on my 5th set .. all free too except for the first $24 set.:)

By far the best I've ever used were some cheap Bendix lifetime warranty pads. In highschool, brakes would last a maximum of 6 months and fade was always a problem lol. I finally got these lifetime pads and couldn't believe the difference. They've been on the car for 4 years now. There's a noticable wear ridge on the rotors, might replace them soon, but the pads are maybe half worn. On cold mornings I drag the brakes down my street to put some heat in them. They don't stop too well when cold but fade is almost non existant.

I work at an autoparts store here in mass, and i can tell you one thing, the bendix pads are probably your best bet, they do cost some money but the fact that you pay once is probably the best part, they are quiet, they come with shims as well as all the good to put on the back, i belive they cost somewhere around 30-40 dollars and if you want i can even get the exact part number. I know that we had a memo sent out by many car manufacturers such as honda jaguar, GM, ford and some others saying that these pads are the better ones to use, and that if customers ask, to recomend these pads. I have no experience with autozones pads or advanced auto so im not sure about them.

I run the Bendex's on my car. I just went through the first set after almost 3 years (27,000miles). These weren't easy miles either, from my 16th birthday to a month shy of my 19th. Lifetime warranty is great.

My vote is for Bendex.

Turbo6inKY- where can someone get these pads you mentioned i ve heard of them but no one around where i live sells them that i know of= thanks

Quiet Stop Ceramic. Period. The BEST stopping, AND 0 (zero) dusting. What more could you ask for?

You can get both straight from Porterfield at www.porterfield-brakes.com.

You can also get the hawks from TireRack.

I'm about to slap a set of CarboTech Bobcat's on my WRX. I'll post up how they do after I race the car Sunday.

I have Hawks on my 240Z, they seem to be doing OK, but that car is so light I really can't stress any pad on it. I've had the Porterfield R4S on my Subaru for two years. They don't dust very much, and your fluid will boil before the pad fades.

I have the Wilwood Q compound on my Buick, I'm not a big fan. They don't stop well until they get some heat in them, but then they overheat quickly. Two or three hard stops close together and they start to fade.

Both sets of mine dust like mofo's.

I have them on the T and the GS

I really wanted to stick with the Raybestos ceramic because they are very smooth feeling and zero noise and zero brake dust! Below 45mph they braked fine, but over forget it. Massive fade. Almost got into an accident because I could pull down fast enough. I turned the rotor and changed to brand new ceramics hoping for better results, but unfortunately no such luck.

I avoided performance friction because of concerns I heard regarding brake dust. I finally tried them a year ago and man was I impressed. They pull the car down way quicker than all the Raybestos products (I tried all their product line). The dust is much less than I expected and is very livable even with my open honeycomb GTA wheels.

From my experience I highly recommend the performance frictions.

I too have performance friction brake pads and have been satisfied. Brake dust is minimal, noise is non-existant, the GN's braking power is probably at the best it will ever be with the stock rotors, calipers and powermaster system.

For $20 it's worth a try! :)

Okay, I ran the CarboTech Bobcats this past weekend. My initial impressions were good. Very little dust, quiet, initial bite was good, and I had a lot of control. I would say they are easily on par with the Porterfield R4S, and they cost a bit less.

Nocooler- i ve been through 5 sets- No Dusting on mine, make sure you get the right pad for the application. purchased mine at autozone- just under $40. for both sides.

PERFORMANCE FRICTION

I just did the brakes on the ol' buick. I used new Raybestos Raymold series rotors and Performance Friction Z rated series pads. The best pads I have used. I also work at a autoparts store that sells Raybestos products. I would not recommend any pads from them except maybe the "quiet stops". Was not impressed with the quality of the rotors but for $25 you get what you pay for.

Here is another little bit of information on rotors at least...the companies called Bendix, and wagner have sub companies called bendix global, and Gaurdian...these are incredibly cheap rotors about 20 bucks a side. however they will only last you about a year before you have to turn them...which in many cases also costs 20 dollars per side...if your are going to get a set of rotors from bendix or wagner, make sure they do not say wagner gaurdian or bendix global becuase basically what you are buying is a cheaper rotor, that has weaker metals in it that are more prone to warping...just thought id pass my advice on to you guys, yes the strait wagner and bendix are more xpensive, but you get about 5 times longer life out of them...
