Jesse, I think you're oblivious to irony. :)

Craig has explained in the past that he bought his Eastern FM many years ago, when the other alternatives were just nearing production. Hasn't seemed to hurt his MPH much.

BTW, his car seems to cool very well as the Eastern leaves a chunk of the radiator exposed unlike the CAS and PT&E units. Same with the 1/2 Kenworth core I did..drove it every day here in FL w/no cooling problems.

Jason lives close to Craig and I and has probably seen all of the various FMs in local cars. I think he just likes the feeling of validation he gets from these polls of his.

Disclaimer: It's after midnight and I'm down 2 beers; I'm allowed a little humor, right?

:D

Concur... I always recommend going with the least expensive unit, new or used.

I think I'm on the "bottom feeders" scale. I got a Dennis Kirban FM over 10 years ago. I think it was made by CarTech?

Where does this one stack up with the others?

Think it's as good as the best stock mount?

I bought an 'old school' Eastern front mount 3-4 years back. Gained 2-3 psi without knock, and my highest temps in traffic, air on has been 172*.

Yeah I spent $1000, but the thing works, and I didn't have to buy an alum rad., or fans, rmi etc.

I did put a new rad, and a tranny cooler on previous to installing the thing.

I got no complaints. Third gear likes it also! :)

It's always about you! Isn't it!

South Jersey is not exactly a hot spot! You and the Cowman better come south this summer and try that thing out....maybe you can hire a couple of guys to sit in the back seat and fan you!

:D

No Wood, it's about ME! (you didn't think it was about you, did you!:))

BTW there is a party at the Alamo, and you are late! Get on over there and pay your last respects to Crockett, Bowie, and John Wayne. And don't forget your musket, they are expecting party crashers ( pesky SanAntonio gang!). Don't worry, a couple trips to Taco Belle, and some Tequilla, and they will be gone....:)

BTW the 'cowman" was "cow, when cow wasn't cool" (Gateway comercials, the cow is singing in a tractor trailer now, LoL's)

The dude is ahead of his time, you just can't see it through your mesquite reddened eyes.

Our 'fans' don't cool us off either. They wear thongs, and are responsible for God killing hordes of kittens. (oops, sorry, can't explain that one on this board!) :)

We won't be comming down soon either. Especially if you hijack cars as readily as you hijack threads!

We now return you to the regularly scheduled post....:)

oops! Correction, 5th grade history is failing me, that was the SantAnna? Prolly still wrong, but closer!! :)

i have an ATR front mount.....can't complain.....probably not the best or worst.....it did make my runs much more consistent on hot days......no over heating problems except when climbing long hills.
Paid big bucks for it about 6 years ago and would probably buy a different brand if i was in the market for one again today.....

Car Jacking is the national sport of Houston...of course, Tiny Tim is the guy stuck in the window of the race car on the Stacker2 commercial. I may have to go Big Show on him.

I believe most of us would be better off with a V4 , or the equivalent, rather than a front mount. After having spent twice as much for cooling accessories as I did for the V2, it is kinda hard to say that.. :)

I have had PTE, V-2 and now have the V-1 on my car. I love the V-1. Scott has a front mount (Montana) on his car that probally 10 years old that seems to do the Job.

Lets see some real #'s. Lets see MAT #'s from the Plenum on the same car, same day as its crossing the finish line. Flow #'s don't mean squat if the core isn't cooling right. I heard PTE's core is an awesome desighn, but the tanks block the radiator too much for me. I heard the MAT #'s on Cas's weren't in PTE's ballpark. I am curious to see Cotons MAT #'s. think his cooler has the best of everyone elses.

Talk to Cal Hartline, he has this data.

Can someone post the data, and the controls of the testing?? I think i would be great info if the testing was done correctly and fairly.

I was told that a car tested PTE race and CAS V1 and the MAT readings through the traps on the PTE was in the 120* range and the CAS was in the 180* range. Does anyone have info to back this up??? Does it sound right??

It was on the old board before the crash but I think you have the numbers backwards;)

I was on the old board too, and i had a CAS IC and remember being a little dissapoited. You could be right though, but i remembered it the other way. I would think this little experiment would have been played out a million times. Its not hard to swap an IC at the track.

That wasn't the post, but that did yield some good info. You would have to compare the V2 to the standard precision, especially on a car making 900+ HP. I don't think there would be much of a difference on a 500hp car.

That's true. On a 500 HP car running a 60 series turbo the V2 and PTE units are about equal. If you put them on 700 HP cars running 70's or 72's they are probably still equal. Judging from that post the more air you are pushing the bigger IC you need. Is there such a thing as too much intercooler:D The race PTE unit and the V1 are probably also equal in the 900 HP range FWIW. Most of our stock block setups would never need anything larger than a V2 or PTE standard IC-IMHO.
