I have been getting calls for a good two months from somebody who is apparently owed some money. Originally, they would at least admit that they were with Old Navy, now they hang up on me when I ask. It's always the same....I answer, they ask for the same person everytime (someone I've never heard of), I tell them that they've got the wrong number, they ask me if she still lives at this number, I reply,'Lives? This is my cell!' and ask them who this is, the person will always just give me a lame first name (today it was 'Mack'), when I ask them who they're with they say it's a 'private business call', right when I'm trying to tell them to lose my number....I hear the disconnect beeps from my phone. One of these times they're gonna call when I'm in a conference with an important customer and that will not be good. I mean, if they can enforce a national 'do not call' rule, howcome these f**kers can call me, harass me about someone else (who probably owes them $12 or something  ) and then just hang up on me everytime?! I wish I could find out where these f*gs are calling from so I could invite them to try and hang up on me as I'm bouncing their heads off of the parking lot.

Wow, this 'venting' thing IS pretty cool.....I'm gonna have to thank my therapist.;)

I get that crap all of the time. Apparently, the loser that had my number before I got it (They call for a Robert Harlow) must not have paid his bills. I was getting calls all of the time for him.
When they would ask for him, I finally started saying, "This is not his # anymore, so please take it off your list."
I haven't got as many calls for him lately. I don't know if it is a result of what I said to them, or he is getting his payments in on time. Who knows?

Yeah, that sucks, but listen to this: Some dill hole put my cell number down as the emergency contact # for an entire neighborhood of condos! About half of them speak english. I get calls all the time from people who have locked their keys in the condo, or broke something, etc. Theres about 300 condos out there, if not more. Theres nothing like getting woke up in the middle of the night by some woman who can't speak english and who's not understanding what you're saying. One time I was up at ANS performance installing my FAST ecm, and I get a call from some old guy out there who is telling me his neighbor is having heart failure. I was like "Hey jackass, even if this was the emergency contact #, CALL 911!!!" Pete thought that was funny. Some people. Maybe I'll start going out there when they call. Locked your keys in huh? No problem. I'll need a rock, and, well.........just the rock. Problem solved. That'll be 50 bucks!:D

Been there, done that. There used to be a family here in town whose last name was similar to ours. Same letters, just in a different order. I was home one day a few years ago and a sheriffs car pulls up and I'm like WTF? Seems they wanted to serve me papers because I hadn't paid the rent and was being sued or something. Problem was, it wasn't me. I had never rented a house in my life. The guy even had the same first initial as me. Needless to say, the sheriffs dept knew about our displeasure. Especially since dad is a 20 year veteran of the local police dept.
And then another time, some dude shows up at the door to reposes a mobile home because I hadn't made the payments. We're like, um, if you can find it here take it. We've lived here about 30 years and haven't seen one here yet, duh...

I had the same problem with my number when I first got it. It took a few months, but after a while it stopped. They are not allowed to harass you and they're obligated to stop calling you if you tell them to even if you were the one with the debt.

I've got a better one, though. When I moved into my first apartment many moons ago, the guy that lived next door was a Kevin James with the SAME LAST NAME. Same spelling and everything. Because he was a deadbeat, he started going by his middle name - James. The mail dude started giving me his mail. Before I had caught on (I didn't know the guy) I called a couple of creditors and asked WTF these threatening letters were about. Bingo - they tied my phone # to this guy. Luckily I caught on before I gave up any other personal info and it never affected my credit. When I moved I was glad to leave that phone # behind.

It could be someone who knows you and is angry at you and is just trying to get your goat.
