I was doing some research and learned that 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4 is a server that Google owns so they are wanting everyone to use their server. Hmmm I wonder why!
I won't use that number if Google owns it since they notified the public that they will gather personal information and sell it to advertisers.

Is there another alternative to try? This is the only BB that we are having issues with so there has to be something else.

Theres a reason people use that one. You can use any ISP's DNS but Google's updates the quickest. I had my first "Cant connect" issue tonight, called our hoster and he logged right into the board with me on the phone. Whatever's going on is NOT the board and NOT the server. Im going to move the domain tonight and all the DNS zones will be redone as well so if you see some downtime tonight, dont panic.

Thank you for all your hard work.

I'd almost bet it's got to do with the Xenoforum Jay. When the site was updated is when messages and posts started to get blocked in my email. I don't get any notifications from here but I do get PM's from T6P. Since xeno isn't one of the "normal" accepted forums I have a feeling it's being classified as a spam thing.:( Just a thought.;)

Mail doesnt work like that. If the reverse DNS is working, it doesnt matter where the mail is coming from.

I get email notifications so theyre working for at least one person.

Thanks Jay! You're doing great work with the board so keep plugging at it.. The bugs will get worked out as time goes.

I really believe the issues are DNS related. Mike is going to rebuild our zone file tonight.. I hope that helps. I started the domain transfer to get it away from Network Solutions. The server has 100% uptime since the move and even when I couldnt get on, MIke could and about 300 other people were on at the same time so its definitely a network issue of some sort.

I get all my notifications still. Im sure i am in the minority here as I am on a Mac using Firefox but i am not having any issues.

FWIW, today was the first day in at least a week I was able to login anytime I wanted to. I use a Mac w/Firefox at home and a PC w/Firefox at work and didn't change any settings on either computer...

I use Google Chrome with Windows7 and I've been getting the "Cannot connect" error on occasion. I fired up Internet Explorer (yuck!) and connected fine.

As far as getting notifications, I checked the safe sender list and TB.com as well as the Gmail was already added. Something else is going on.:sick:

When it's down I cant connect with the pc or the iphone. The weird part is that notifications do come through even though I can't get on. So it has to be working for some. :banghead:

I have had No problems getting on the site.
I do not get email notifications however. When I check settings it shows my screen name under "email address". I edit to my email addy, but the problem still exists. Still shows my screen name.

I have been seeing nothing mostly but downtime so not much will change for me. I had started another thread before this 1 came up and I posted some screen shots of the errors as was asked. I appreciate your efforts. I'm sure it will get worked out! Thanks for putting in the effort for everyone :)

Last nite android phone no go...andriod tablet no go...PC win 8 no go...I am at work now and we r good here.

Here's something interesting, don't know if it's of any help, but.... I normally have the wi-fi turned off on my android phone for better battery life, and as such it is nearly impossible to get connected to the board via 4G. My laptop however has rarely failed to connect, so on a whim I turned the wi-fi on the phone ON. It now connects as reliably as the laptop. I don't know why, but I'm sure a computer wiz probably knows why this is.
